Spray on lining questions

What are the + and - of putting a spray on liner in the bed and floor of a jeep? What does it usually cost? Any pictures would be nice.

 

I got a quote the other day for my tub here in California. They wanted $550 for Line-X brand. And the guy kinda cringed when I told him the interior was sandblasted, he said he`d have to primer it before applying the bed liner. I am not even sure I like the idea, it seems like a pretty rough surface that I wouldnt want to crawl around on getting under the dash or under the seats, etc to grab things. I will probably just go with plain paint - maybe even roller paint like the job featured in Hot Rod magazine a few years ago. Easy touch up and would look good in my opinion. Just speculating though, i`m sure there will be some responses from those who have done it.

 

I would not roll it with rustoleum, I would use a spray gun and shoot rustoleum. Its a very time consuming job to roll it. Just spray it and be done. Ive done the roof of my 67 chevy truck with the roll job with rustoleum. Man oh man it took forever. BUT it looks great. I sprayed some parts on my Bar B Q grill and wow i was amazed how well it turned out. Again with rustoleum!

 

you can get Herculiner for about 90-100 bucks for a gallon and that will cover it all. Just roll it on after prepping clean. Couple buddies did it and it came out great.

 

i rolled farm implement paint and it is holding up very well.
i didnt thin it.

 

i used hurculiner on mt tub bottom and inside and firewall its great and will never rust i spraed it flat after i didnt like the shine .:v6:

 

I did herculiner in my tj. I prepped the surface properly after stripping out the interior. Spent all kinds of time to get it just right. 5 years later it is coming off in flakes.

 

I used Herculiner in my 47, The gas tank leaked and it is coming up.
I have Line X in my DD, it has held up for 4 years, when I hauled a transmission in the back it leaked trans oil. It discolored the Line X but didn't come up.

 

I'm planning on going with U-POL Raptor when I do mine. It's about $100 and comes with a Shutz gun. Can also be tinted to color match. I shot the U-Pol Raptor stuff into the flatfender a year or so ago. Great stuff, and just as easy to apply as they say it is. Whole job only took an hour or so, and I've still got half the stuff left to use on the CJ. Even dropped the roll cage on it a while ago (well - my finger cushioned it a little) and didn't so much as chip it.

Not a lot of time outside in the weather, so can't vouch for how well it holds up, but so far I'll give it a great review.
