ok heard back for the guy with the '90 4.3 out of a s-10 .with a manual trans , he had a 700r4 hooked up to it when he spun a bearing. the Delphi ECU #is 01228062 . just checking if anyone here knows if this computer can be alltered to work on a dauntless. Affordable fuel injection is always closed when I get home 'cause they are east coast.talked to willys59cj5 and he was quiet knowlegable on this kind of mod, I think we will be buddys.............. or he will block my ph. #

You understand the issue? AFAIK there's no way to alter a GM ECU to work with an odd-fire engine, because it expects a continuous evenly-spaced stream of triggers. I understand that the MegaSquirt ECU can be set up to average the incoming stream of triggers. This suppresses the unevenly spaced triggers from the odd-fire engine and allows it to work ok. There's an odd-fire feature in the MS-extra code that might be able to handle the unevenly spaced triggers directly, but I don't know much more about it other than the feature exists.

thanks tim , got 'ca. left AFI an email to see if the ecu can be flashed to a 231 for the fuel curve and see if a possible crank pickup is possible.if that is not possible then a MS system might have to be in the future.

I heard years ago of guys running the 231 crank trigger that MSD used to/still make to run the ECU and I was also told this by Howell fuel injection as well if I wanted to run one of his kits.

I talked to Howell, Affordable, Custom EFI - most of the 'players'. Most of them only wanted to tell me it was not possible to do 'just fuel control' or they wanted to talk me into modifying the intake for MPI so it could 'run right'.

I am afraid your going to find that MS, Holley Projection (they do not 'support' it on the 225), or the Powerjection III are the only real 'players' to work with.

DIY Auto Tune sells trigger wheels http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/-c-48.html?osCsid=ce2deda75631dc460b5a8ca79a4ab4e9 which you could use instead of the tach signal on an odd-fire. Would not work for MPI, but should be fine for TBI. You'd need to figure out a VR (variable reluctance) type sensor to be driven by the wheel, and then convert that to resemble the tach signal that the GM ECU wants. Could be done, but I think you would be better off starting with the MegaSquirt ECU rather than the hacking the GM ECU. The MegaSquirt is programmable with any old laptop, has its own graphical tuning software (MegaTune), and lets you skip the PROM burning step implied by using the GM ECU. Plus the kit is cheap, in the order of things.
