Look what followed me home. I'll be swapping my 3B firewall/ cowl and cowl risers over to this CJ3A tub to make it a 3B;). It's going to be easier than replacing $1100 worth of replacement sheetmetal parts, and cheaper than a new repop tub that I know will have fitment problems.

So all you sheetmetal gurus what advise or pointers can you give me to help me get to the finish line quicker.:hurrican:

Good looking tub. I would run it as a 2a just because I like the look better, but that's up to you. Take lots of measurements. If the factory seam is at the same place for the firewall/cowl on both tubs, I would splice there. Keeps it clean and less bodywork. Don't be shy about cutting up the old tub to get the clean, undisturbed metal that you want from it.

NICE looking tub!! Good luck with your project! Wish we could find tubs like that up here in the Northeast.

Would if I could. I'm headed the other way to look at another Jeep.

Need to get together some time so I can see the Jeep.

Easiest way to change it over is get some roloc discs and scuff up the spot welds (makes it easier to see all of them) on the cj3b tub that hold the firewall, risers, and dash together, drill out spot welds, and take it out as a whole assembly.

Remove the same from the 2a tub and fit in the 3b firewal, risers, and dash.

The nice thing about these tubs are they are spot welded together so good sharp drill bit and a few hrs will liberated most of the sheet metal and you can spot it back together without worry of warping the metal

If you can make some saw horses for the tub to rest on while you are drilling it may make it easier. You will need to double the wood under the rear floor to get it level.

Oh and go to Home Depot and get a product called Must for Rust. It smells awful but will help keep rust from coming back. Spray it on and let it set.

i got an idea, heard about it somewhere, take a 3b tub and a 2a/3a hood. use the b grill and make some high line fenders and the a hood. now that would be cool. unless your going for a less moded deal. any way sounds like a cool build, take pics.

I'm looking at my tub pictures(my tub is over in NY) and it looks like you will be using the 3B firewall down to the floor pans and the cowlwith the risers and dash, correct?

Yeah, I got the lower firewall and R/H side spot welds drilled off the 3A tub, need to flip the tub over to access the L/H cowl spot welds. then I should be able to lift it off as an assembly. Access to the cowl spot welds is tough. On my 3B tub I can use a sawall to ease removal of the cowl and risers since the tub is toasted. But I do plan on saving as much metal off it for use by others.

Nope, I want to get this one ready to paint so it will be a few weeks. I did try some of the Must for Rust- it works good for treating the rusty areas.

I'm still using the 3B for my parts runner vehicle but it's going under the knife soon.

Finally started welding in my patch panels for the toolbox area of the floor. Also repaired part of the toolbox.
