Would one of you kind gentlemen, who has a stock CJ, measure your the width and height of your factory front bumper and email me or post the measurements?

On a jeep I restored about 15 years ago, I used 4 in channel iron. And cut the ends with a 45 degree angle like the stock jeeps. It looked great and seemed more sturdy than the stock front bumper. However I can't remember the width. Something in my mind says it was 54 in wide. But at 57 years old, I don't trust my mind anymore.

I am restoring a 73 CJ 5 Super jeep to near stock condtion.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The stock front bumper on my 55 is 54 inches long. measured on the inside the channel is just a hair over 3 3/4 inches and the flanges are 2 inches wide.

The 45 degree cut on the flanges at the bumper ends begin 1/2 inch back from the face of the channel.

Thanks Brian, that is exactly the information I was needing. I apprecate you getting the measurements. I'll print your reply out and get my channel iron tomorrow.

Then drill the holes and cut the angle on the ends, and have it powered coated with a semi gloss black.

    Regards,

    Cliff
