I got to cleaning up the Wagoneer and replaced the 2 flat tires on it. It needed a good vacuuming, the windows had alot of paint overspray on them, so i had to spend alot of time with a razor getting it somewhat clean. Going through it, the rust is real minimal on it. It has two spots of cancer right at the cowl below the windshield corners, and somre rust on the floor seem in the driver front floor. I am actually surprised how clean it is. While cleaning it i found alot of old registration papers, the original factory user guide and the original spec sheet from 1984. Fortunately it has the factory tow package to it, so i have it alreayd setup for towing. It has a oil cooler , receiver hitch and the 6 pin round plug on the back. It has some parts missing off of it, and i will ahve to locate some items to get the motor running. But it is a pretty cool rig, right now i am just going to try and clean it up real good, slowly get the parts to get the engine to work. The rig has all the bells and whistles, but i need to simplify some things. I am going to remove the cruise control, AC and if i get an HEI for the 360 i can get rid of alot of wires.
    Here are some pics.

Back when Stacey David was on Trucks he did one similar to yours. The one mod I really liked was he pulled the grill and put in one of the old style centerpiece grills and round headlights. It really bumped up the appearance in front.:v6:

if i replace the grill i will be making a "rhino" grill out of tubing. I have had that image in my head since that trucks episode. I do plan on pretty much painting as much chrome as i can :)

From what my friend said, it was running when parked, and that was maybe 8 months ago. He took parts of the motor for another waggie he restored.

Did you say you're going to get RID of the air conditioning? And you live in Swamp Cakalaki? Wow, brave soul. I love the FSJ, I had a 78 Cherokee for a while that I really enjoyed. Tough beasts. The window regulators are a common problem, especially the tailgate glass. The Crown replacement manual crank for the rear glass is a POS, don't waste your money. The splines strip out of the handle in about 5 minutes. If you're not already lurking there, go check out IFSJA (www.ifsja.org) asap for all the info you could ever want on the FSJ. They're a good bunch, almost as good as the ECJ5 bunch, but we do set the bar pretty high around here. :) Enjoy!

Yeah i am not a big AC person. I am also still thinknig bout cutting the rear off and running a canback, but who knows, that is a long time away :) The AC may stay, i dont know, i am gonig to clean up the engine bay, and remove it, but i will keep it around till either i reinstall it or get rid of it. I dont use AC much anyway. Even when i lived in Florida i didnt care for it much. Call me crazy :) :)

can you even get refrigerant for this Dan? Just curious since its probably not r134...
If it works I'd leave it alone for now. Otherwise, yank it.

Looks good. Guy around here has one that he brings in every now and then for maintenance. Not sure on the year, but has to be mid to late 80's.

I *may* still have some r-12 laying around.......

IMO, the r-12 systems worked 100 times better than the r-134 systems. Not enough inherent lubricity in the 134 makes the orings dry out and the systems leak... PIA

Now that my son is qualified, he can buy/repair/recharge. :)

I know what you mean. The stuff I have is in one pound cans and I bought it just before it became illegal to sell to the general public. I bought it at the local K-Mart...

I thought you just couldn't get it in the US? I know there was a big smuggling ring busted bringing it in from Mexico.
