Is there Upgrade For Dauntless V6 CARB!! i am hating my carb

    Other then Fuel injection, is there a better aftermarket carb. My Float gets stuck all the time and even when im wheeling. Which has been annoy the crap out of me to get out and bang on the carb at least 4-5 times a week. Iv ajusted it to the max of capability. PLus living on a hill parking it on a hill dosnt make it easy to run. but sound great.

    Is there a better carb i can run that wont stick as much?

    I think most owners with this carb are pretty happy with it. The usual complaint is it's not a performance carb, but when it's in good condition, it works well. So, there are alternatives, but I think you will not find a carb that works better than the 2G when it's in good condition.

    Are you open to exchanging it for another, or having yours professionally rebuilt?

    There aren't a lot of different replacement carbs that will fit on your manifold. I think the Weber 38DGAS might fit. May be cheaper to replace the manifold and run a Motorcraft or Holley carb.

    Most of us will agree... the Rochester 2G stock carb is vey good on the V6.
    It works well on the street and highway, and better than most when offroad/off camber.
    If your float is sticking and causing problems... that's not a "2G" problem, just a problem with yours. Rebuild the carb or have it professionally rebuilt.
    IIRC, some guys have bought replacement(rebuilt) 2G carbs from NAPA.
    Stay with the 2G, rebuild or replace and set it up right , you'll be happy.

    I replaced it by a carb of a CJ 7 . holes fit and runs great.

    Its not normal for floats to stick, theres some thing wrong in there and is not letting it work properly. Its going to be some thing so simple when you find it your going to say duh, mean while it will drive you nut.Its not the carb its the float adjustment maybe a slight bend to one side,or maybe something with the needle or seat. dont get flustered just settle down and study it and youll get.     Juffer, I'm glad your carb works well. However, I would not recommend swapping in the carb from 2V 258 engine. This carb is the well-known (infamous?) Carter BBD.

    This carburetor has some problems. First, it has gotten a lot of really negative coverage in the press and in discussion forums. Therefore, it has a terrible reputation. I think it probably does not deserve much of this reputation, but if you use one, many many people will tell you it is a very bad carburetor and that you should replace it (with a Weber, usually).

    I think it's true that many people have trouble with this carburetor. It does have problems with the idle tubes getting plugged: http://www.jeeptech.com/engine/carter.html It also often comes with a stepper-motor controlled idle jet. The stepper motor is controlled by some kind of electronics. This too can be dealt with - using the so-called "Nutter bypass:" http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/electrical/jn-ignition99/

    So, even though the BBD fits, I don't think you are a lot better off with it in place of the Rochester 2G. You can however, get a new Weber carb with the same flange pattern as the BBD. It won't be cheap... something like 4 or 5 bills, but it will be a new carburetor.

    I had a sticky float on the Motorcraft 2100 on my truck (it replaced ... a Carter BBD!)

    The cure was to take the float out and adjust the needle tang and bracket so that they are perfectly level and square. Just a slight tilt in the tang that pushes on the needle would cause it to hang up. I'd suggest you take the float out and look at it carefully. Another option might be a new replacement float and new needle and seat.

    Definitely worth the 20 or 30 bucks for a kit and float and an hour or so of your time to rebuild it.

    Well, you are right. I had a cj7 run very badly. But mu cj 5 had one when I bought it and it runs so great on every angle , idle and powerfull. That is why I am so enthousiast about it. Must be a lucky shot probably.

    where's fremont, I like working on carbs . I agree ,got to be something wrong it there ,my 2g works great and will run with the rig almost on it's side or vert.get a kit /new float and I'll tearthat thing apart for a case of Newcastle .

    I had the same problem with carb . All that was wrong was the gasket would rub on the float.

    Probably not uncommon for the gasket thing to happen. The kits come with several different gaskets when you rebuild these carbs. If you don't pay attention you can end up with the wrong one and spend all summer trying to figure out the issue. DAMHIK.

    I just finished rebuilding my 2G with a kit from The Carburetor Shop. Runs like a top now...

    Sorry i havnt responed no computer latly...

    The 2g Carb is a good carb and i have rebuilt it... I do think the problem is with the gasket because everytime it sticks i go and bang on the carb with my knife and then it fires up so i no its a float problem i just thought this was a usual jeep problem...

    But i will trim cuz i think that may do the trick. the pump sometime stick but hardly ever and it fixes its self.
