so i found an old (military?) trailer locally. i dont have pics :(, and i dont know what model it is:(. it is currently registered and road legal but 'needs some work like lights and other s!?@ like that' according to the current owner. hes looking to get $400 for it. is this a good price?? it seems pretty solid, but i havent had the time to get over there and get a good look at it.

Not really much to go on until you have some more specific info or pics.

You can't get hurt too badly at $400 if the trailer is truly "solid." Photos are necessary to determine what type of trailer it is, how much work is necessary, etc.

yea i looked over the entire thing, didnt find any ID plates, or holes where there wouldve been one. and the bed sides dont have the support 'ribs' that pretty much any other mass produced trailer has.

There are many differences between the Spen 1/4 ton trailer and the trailer for sale. Check out the first two photos, which are Spens. The stake pockets are different, as are the fenders, tub rails, tongue, coupler, etc. the trailer also appears to be wider than a Bantam or Spen. However, the tailgate is very similar to the tailgate used on a Spen.

Looks like an OK trailer for $400, but since unrestored Bantam civilian trailers (with tailgate) that need body work and rust repair such as the trailer for sale can be found for this price, and the trailer for sale is not a Bantam and most likely not a Spen, why don't you offer less and see what happens. I'd try $250-300. Anything more than that and I'd keep looking for a Bantam T3-C.

It's definatly not a Bantam BUT it could be a very nice little jeep trailer.
I'm wondering if someone with a lot of talent and a good metal shop did their own version of a 1/4 ton.

It would be a good one to "supe" up for offroading.

I hate it when I see an antique trailer cut up and modified for the trail.
