wiring harness trouble

maybe this is a dumb question but i ordered the standard 12 circut ez-wire harness recently and im having trouble connecting it. im certainly not an expert electrician and ive never re-wired an entire vehical. I have the original wiring diagram and could easily rewire the jeep per original, but my trouble is how to wire with the fuse box. i was wondering if anyone has a diagram from their jeep that they drew for a fuse box style harness?

I will definitly research this on my own but am just wondering if anybody could help me out.

 

Keep us posted on how it goes... i am planning on rewiring my flattie this winter, and i don't have much electrical experience either.

 

I didn't purchase a wiring harness, I bought spools of wire and ran one at a time. I did put in a fuse panel (it's kinda cheap, came with a parts jeep that I bought). The fuse panel has two inputs and 6 outputs. I ran both inputs from the ignition switch (that way I can never leave lights on or something and end up with a dead battery).

From there, I wired things up one at a time, splitting up all electrical circuits between the 6 outputs. I started keeping track of where things went, but then gave that up, so I don't have a diagram. I believe that the original diagrams call for getting most of the power from the light or ignition switches. So, use the wiring diagram in the manual and anytime it shows something getting power from somewhere, you'll get it from the fused side of the fuse box instead.

Like w3srl said, it's not difficult, but when you're looking at all of those wires, it can seem daunting. Just take it one circuit, one wire at a time.

uhmm the ez wire kit already has the fuse block wired in all you do is hook the wires up where they go, which is printed on the wire itself..

 

EZ wiring harnesses are supposed to come with Diagrams? At least thats what they say on the website.

 

Mine came with a generic wiring diagram. They are in the instruction book. My wires came pre seperated, the wire that went to the rear were grouped togeather. For the rear you will need the fuel gauge sending unit, third brake light ( if applicable), right and left rear brake lights, right and left running lights, and right and left turn signals.

The wires for the steering column were separated as well. I have not got that far.... The dash wire came separated as well.... The ends of the wires that will go to your hazzard lights, gas gauge, turn indicators, ect...

The front will require some separation. If you follow directions it will tell you to drill a 1 1/4 hole into your firewall to route the wires. I did not use the power antena, and something else.. I ran the lights, turn signals, and horn wire down the drives side fender. I seperated the wire for my solenoid, and altenator at the fire wall and ran them across the fire wall to the passenger side fender. I will try and take pictures and post them.

In your extra parts, you should of had 2 GM style plugs with 3 wires comming out of the plug. Green, light brown and brown. Those plug directly into your headlights. Those will be high beam, low beam, ect..

The directiond recommend statrting a the rear and working foward making one connection at a time.

Yea i didnt get the diagram from them. I going to call them again tomorrow and ask them about it. I got a friend thats pretty good so im sure we can get it worked out. While im in this process i need a longer rear CV driveshaft.
