    Hi all,

I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend! I'm fixing to replace my wiper arms/blades, so I figured I'd ask you guys for advice.

I've been looking through the JC Whitney and 4 Wheel Drive catalogs and have been looking at their arms and blades. The '68-and-up blades and arms look halfway sturdy, but the '45-'67 blades/arms look primitive and flimsy.

My questions: 1) Are the wiper arms and blades for a '67 CJ and Commandos interchangeable? 2) Can I use '68-and-up CJ arms/blades on my rig (will they fit)? 3) Are Whitney's and 4WD's parts of halfway-decent quality (the price sure seems reasonable: $15.00 for an arm and blade)? 4) Are wiper arm tensioners worth the money?

I know it seems a little odd asking about wiper blades at the beginning of summer  but I have three months off, and I want to replace as much stuff on the rig as possible during that time.

    Thanks,

    Desmond

    1) I dunno

2)On a CJ5, the 68 and up are longer, and will not directly fit.

    3) The quality is questionable, but the options are limited

    4) I don't know that they sell tensioners that fit pre-68 wipers?

In the 4wd.com catalog I got this weekend in the mail, part number WSHA1K is a wiper arm and blade kit for 10.95 each for "1941-1968" CJ.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I'll take a closer look at the 4WD catalog and go from there.

That would not fly in places that inspections are required, or when it snows. A buddy of mine had temporarily failing wipers on a '59 El Camino. I always laughed when he got caught in the rain. He would stick his head out the window, and was soaked by the time he made it home. He kept a towel under his seat to wipe his face off every once in a while.

I got mine from Krage (www.jeepdoc.com) and I expect to replace the whole wiper arm assembly once/yr. as they don't appear to be very sturdy. RainX and new wipers every year or as req'd by MOM.

I see them now Brad... Krage's description is not very clear, but they also carry the same part number , WSHA-1K, for only $8.95. All they call them is electric wiper blade and arm, with no indication of years.

Thanks for the additional tips. I guess I'll go with a combination of wiper blades/arms that have to be changed on a frequent basis and regular applications of Rain-X.
