I know this might be dumb but im gonna ask anyhow. I recently sold my boat and I have a surplus of premix gas in the garage. Close to 30 gallons, now as much as I need to cut the grass Ill never use all that gas before it goes bad, Question is: can I burn that fuel in my Jeeps can I do any damage to the cylinders by having 2 stroke oil burning in them??????? With gas at 4 dollars plus a gallon Id hate to waste what I have. Maybe I can mix a little in with regular gas or just burn it all up????

It'd foul the plugs I'd assume but wouldn't hurt the engine any that I can think of.

The 2-cycle oil could be bad for O2 sensors and maybe your catalytic convertor, but in a carbureted vehicle I think it'll be ok. It'll smoke, and maybe foul the plugs, in high enough concentration; put a little in your tank and try it.

That amount of oil will not generally hurt the O2 sensor, you can't do it all the time. A friend of mine runs megasquirt on his 2 stroke motorcycle engine, he ran it for about 2 months in the bike trying to get the fuel map right before removing the sensor. The sensor was in fine shape. So for the fuel you would run thru it the O2 should be fine but like Sparky said the plugs will probably look like crap.

yeah i thought about the plugs I think what Ill do is for one just burn it in the cj5 thats carbbed and ill mix it in with regular gas from the pump. its only a 10 gal underseat tank in the cj5 so ill pour a few gallons in when it gets to alittle more than half full.

My friend also ended up with about 50 gallons of outboard metor premix. He puts about 5 gallons in his car then tops the tank off at the filling station thereby diluting it.

i would at the most add 1 gal of the premix. you can add some stabilizer to the gas and it will keep for a while (like 3-4 yrs).

The pre-packaged 2-cycle oil comes with stabilizer in it (at least, every package I've seen does), but it would not hurt to add more.

I used to burn off excess 2 stroke fuel (5 gallons or less at a time) in my buddy's truck. No ill effects.

chasman considering you only have 30 gallons to burn I would not worry at all about this small of an amount of pre-mix to use up. I have run much larger quantities of pre-mix in a 4 stroke and never fouled a plug. After all, the 2 stroke engines are not fouling plugs. Depending on what ratio it is mixed at and what brand of oil will determine how much if any smoke. Optix brand oil used to make the pre-mix (50:1) does not smoke at all when burned in a 4 stroke engine.

I would say your pre-mix is mixed at 50 to 1---with that lean a mixture you may see it smoke a little on start up but after your engine is warmed up you will never see it smoke. In a chainsaw, after warming up, they will not smoke with the 50 to 1 mix. I don't see it fouling your plugs either, a chain saw plug if runing correctly will be as clean as you would expect in a well runing vehicle.

If you have a heavier mix of fuel---say 32 or 16 to 1, just use half and the other half with pure gas. However, I haven't see anything using that heavy of mix in years.

Would the oil act like Marvel Mistery Oil?
Lube the top end a little. I would not think smoke or plug fouling would be a problem. Use it up a few galons at a time.

I have used 2cycle fuel from my chainsaw with a 32/1 ratio in my 1953 Willys with a buick V-6. No ill effects. I did dilute it 5/1 in the tank. Iwould think that it will lube the valves much like Marvel Mystery Oil. I never had any fouled plugs when I did this at the end of the logging season. My willys did smoke anyway so I did not notice any more with the 2 cycle fuel. Go for it, Matt W.
