Junkyard - not really aftermarket, but...
Got first generation Honda Prelude seats in both my '74 and my Willys. Fit well side to side, and sit low enough that you've got some space to play with for brackets.

    Comfortable too.

corbeau baja ultra SS, very comfortable seat.
    Pros, good side support
    light weight
    good looks
    comfortable
    Cons price
    size
    mounting
I think I paid about $500 for the pair. They are excellent once you get in. Anyone taller than I am (5'8") doesn't fit well in my jeep. Not enough room to get past the seat and steering wheel without modification. Very hard to move around once your in. (that can be a plus too.)

always like the opportunity to post a pic of my seats :)

Most seats I have looked at don't solve the space issue since your restricted with the wheel well. You need to find a thin-back seat. Racing style often help.

    You have other options:
#1 The wheel well notch then use almost any seat and gain a few inches.
#2 Modify or switch to a shorter, tilt column.

I plan to do the wheel well notch soon then measure for seats after. 6'2" in a CJ5 is a little tight. :driving:

Racecraft seats, lot of bolster. Notched the wheelhouse so you could climb in and out.

I have a list of seats that people have used in jeeps:

    Junkyard seat suggestions:
    Fiero
    Mustang
    Sunfire
    Cavalier
    Escort GT
    Nissan 300zx
    Accord
    **86-91 BMW 3 series sport (318is, 325es, 325is)
wanna bad *** seat? get a seat out of a mid 90's 3 series coupe. you wont be dissapointed...better yet E36 M3 seats are the cats meow....hell any BMW seat is

**These are RX-7 seats.... they are VERY comfortable, have a flat 4 bolt pattern (stock jeepish,) super light (fiberglass shell,) and fit harnesses perfectly..

    86-93 Acura Integra

**Late model sunfire / Cavalier seats bolt up to stock YJ / CJ seat frames. No mods needed. Cheap at the yard and plentiful. The head rest is seperate and the seats have good bolsters.

Mitsubishi 3000 GT...pretty push, and have seperate headrests. The only dowside is that they are a little wide

93-97 MX6 seats with the integrated headrest. Firm seating, reclining, cloth, hard plastic backs, strong frames and awesome looking. I love the rounded head rests and a 4-point is definitely in the future. Passengers side flips forward and the drivers side bottom has tilt adjust. Still have to decide which sliders to use (YJ or MX6) but they should be easy to fab in

Mistubishi Starion/Dodge Conquest from the 80's

I want some of either the BMW or mazda seats.

Here is a link to Pirate that has junkyared seats for us........larger guys.

I have Beard suspension seats in my sandrail...I can tell you that they are VERY comfortable....But kind of on the spendy side. I think I am going with the same thing on my CJ this winter.
I moved the driver side inner fender well back a little...So this gave me a bit more room for a nicer seat. I'm not very tall (5-10)...but my problem is that my build closely resembles that of a silver-back gorillaR)...So space in a CJ almost always needs a little "tweaking" to make me comfortable.

I had the Beard seats in a CJ7 back in the 80's. They were very similar to the corbeau seats I have now. Maybe a tad smaller. Not enough smaller that they would have made a difference mounting in my 5. But really nice seats. I have the back of the seat against the wheel house on the bottom and almost against the roll bar on the top. They could be moved in a short bit to allow clearance on the roll bar. But as they sit right now the center console from a CJ7 barely fits with some trimming.

I tried those from JC Whitney. Didn't work well. They were too tall and too far forward for them to work in my Jeep. I stuck with the Think Jeep seats I have and notched the wheel well for more space.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably just get the replacement lowbacks.

I have a set of Corbeau Moabs. I replaced a set of stock high backs from a 72' CJ. When I measured the old the Corbeau were almost the same size. So far very comfortable.

I got leathers out of a 93 ZJ limited. Super comfortable, but a little long. Kinda puts you a few inches closer to the wheel. I need to do the wheelhouse notch.
