I thought about that after my experiences this summer a couple times with it getting warm and not running quite right until it cooled off.

Might order one if I still have issues next summer.

NAPA has one for me right now. Should have been dropped off an hour ago. Don't sweat it. :)

Thanks though. Once I get that in I'll do a proper road test. I just drove up and down the street a couple times. Nothing seems out of place with the axle. Shouldn't be, teeth all were in good shape and there was no rust inside, turned freely by hand too.

So Jayhawk dropped off an Acme hard top for me this weekend that needs a bit of work but it's in good condition overall very salvageable.

First order of business was to sand it to remove some severely UV damaged paint. Lex took the day of today, guess what she'd done when I came home? :D

Man, you have no idea. We're sitting at the watering hole after the trail run, sun setting, and only about, oh, I'd say several hours late getting home. Sparky's phone rings. It's Lex. Fearing the worst, Spoon and I start coming up with every plausible reason the history of mankind has every known that could possibly explain our lateness without putting Sparky in the dog house. He plays along with us for a minute, then calmly tells her where we're at. No nagging, no complaints, no nothing. Just, "Okay dear."

    Indeed.

It's the "rare" Acme fiberglass CJ-5 top. I have a later '76 and up WS frame on Linus so I can use it. :)

I had one fiberglass top for an Early 5 and I stupidly let it go. Not letting this one go too.

    See this webpage: http://www.manoian.net/jeep/acme_hardtop.html

Doors too, yes. They're behind the shed and also need to be sanded and cleaned up.

Thinking about painting the Jeep and hard top both. Paint on the Jeep is pretty faded and worn out on the hood.

We'll see. I'm leaning toward a silvery type color. But might go with orange again.

So it's been quite a while since I actually updated this thread.

I got back around to working on the top earlier this summer. I started patching the cracks in the top, doing some fiberglass repair. Then a windstorm kicked up two nights later, blew it over and put another crack in it.

Tonite I finally got two layers of glass mat put on the second crack and last bolt hole that was drilled for who knows why.

While I was at it I started working on some cracks in the tub (fiberglass) tonight too. All this while I've got the bottom end of the engine torn down to replace the rear main seal right now.

Been a LOONNNGGG time since I updated this thread.

Who knows how long it's been since I worked on poor Linus.

Last year was just a bad year. This year is much better, so I've spent some time under Linus this week.

I've been prepping for the T86 to come out and put a T15 in, operation 86 the T86.

The D18 is nearly out, I ran out of daylight last night. Perhaps this weekend I can get it pulled.

I'm in a holding pattern on the '64 until some decisions are made regarding future plans...
