Under underseat tank?

    Is something supposed to be under the tank? If yes, about how thick is it?

    My '67 has oak strips, I guess 9/16" or 5/8"....

    When I removed mine to clean it out it had a hard cardboard type stuff . So I used some tool box drawer lining double thickness and single under the straps ,nice fit.

    mine had oil cloth strips, similar to whats found between the grill and hood

    mine had a rust hole as big as the tank:rofl: glad i read this thred so there is supposed to be something between the floor and tank to prevent rubbing

    thanks, I can fab some rubber strips to get the 1/2 inch thick.

    I use flat rubber bungee cords like the truckers use and cut them to length. Cheap and work great! Leaves a slight gap under the tank for blowing junk out to keep the tank from rusting. Nickmil

    Good idear! Didja glue 'em down? I'm thinking the yellow 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (gorilla snot) would work good.
