The last trip into the Chocolates was the straw that broke the camel's back for my old leafsprings. I had one break on each rear pack and one swung over and stabbed a shock.
I went ahead and ordered the Shyjacker 2" lift springs and the Nitro to match. I got a lot of info from using the search feature here and some from a couple buddies that have had good luck with SJ.
I know that this kit is not as complete as some out there and thought I would ask if anyone could tell me about what I might need to hunt up or what I might do that they had wished they had done the last time they swapped springs?

well, first, what comes with this kit?
    U-bolts?
    Pitman Arm?
    Brake Lines?
    Shackles?

Let us know, then we can help.

This kit has springs with shackle and spring eye bushings installed, U-bolts and shocks. I got it from 4Wheeldrive WH.

It would be a good time to upgrade your shackles if the originals are bent or rusty. At 2", you might not need a new pitman arm, but it couldnt hurt to get a drop unit. If you plan on really flexing it out, get some extended brake lines also.
Another thing that might not matter at 2" is your driveshaft. Do the rear springs come with shims to rotate the pinion up a bit? If you get a vibration after install, they might help

Helpful lift tip #2498: Spray ALL the bolts down with penetrating oil once a day for a week before you take it apart. It makes a world of difference on how easily everything comes apart.

I'm only doing the 2" lift. The kit is pretty much springs and bushing with U bolts. The shocks I bought seperate. I ordered the Soft Ride. I thought maybe someone could clue me in on some details like brake lines and shims from thier expereince with a modest lift. I mostly hunt and prospect with my Jeep so I don't get to wild.

Brake lines should be fine. Air tools are a must on the rusty bolts. Like said above, check your spring hangers and shackles. Easier to do now. Shims are optional. Install and drive and check for vibrations first. Good luck.

Not really what your looking for, But my experience with the SJ SoftRide system is this :
On-road, rides good, but hang on in the corners.
Off road, in off camber areas, it let the Jeep lean too much, causing new wrinkles in the seat covers....

I have the Sj SoftRide 4" lift under mine. YMMV

I like my 4" lift. Yep, it's soft all right. You get used to it. I don't think the 2" springs will be as tippy. My body will lean until the hood is almost vertical, but it doesn't go over. Yet!

:shock: I think I'd have more than a wrinkle in my seat, if I leaned that much! R)

Gotta be better than busted stock '74 suspension. I appreceate the heads up on what to expect in the ride. I hope the shocks will work well with the springs. Thanks everyone for your input.

I have the 4" Skyjacker softride, and the springs (rear especially) are too soft for me. Nice soft ride on the road unless you want to turn a corner (hang on tight). Flex offroad is fantastic, but on tight sidehills with a steep drop-off on the downhill side I pucker up so tight there's seatcover sticking out between my teeth.
Also, so much flex that with a 4" lift and trimmed rear wheelwell I still tear up 33" rear tires something fierce.
Good and bad, depending on what you're looking for.
