    wrong carb
first carb pictured would be for the F head or overhead valve engine
second carb is for the L flathead engine

Make them issue a pickup for it! You shouldn't have to take the responsibility to send it back. The inconvenience of the wrong part though is a bummer, I know the feeling.

I don't know about 4WD hardware but Summit will send the right part out immediately and you can return the wrong part at your leisure. I would certainly press them for the same service. If you're persuasive enough they may overnight it.:v6:

just got off the phone with them

they are sending me a shipping label for the return,

but they wouldnt send me the new part until they get thiers unless i order the new part, then they'd refund me the other one after they get it back.....

for the amount of money i have spent with them they should do a little more bending-over-backwards in my opinion.

see if i keep ordering form them...psh

Heard a new saying yesterday that pretty much sums up your situation: BOHICA. It means "Bend Over Here It Comes Again".:) 4WD likes to take your money and most of the time they're easy to deal with, but every now and again....BOHICA.

    well......

4wd has ALL of thier solex's packaged wrong (mine was in an Omix box, which explains that much)

guess i'll get a rebuild kit for the WO

anyone have a link to the bestest place to get the WO rebuild kit?

Try KRAGE for a Solex, www.jeepdoc.com I would give them a call to make sure it is in stock, but I've had great dealings with them over the years.

IMHO, the problem with most WO carbs is that most 40+ year-old carbs have worn throttle plate shafts that leak air and will never idle correctly. You will usually end up sending it off to someone like the carburetor doctor to have the base plate rebuilt in order to have it run correctly again. (I have 4-5 carbs on the shelf that are all worn this way)

Unless you are doing a 100-point restore, the Solex is the way to go. YMMV. ;)

yea it would be faster and easier to go Solex.....

my only concern is that all these people get their parts from the same place....and so one company with bad stock = all companies with a bad stock

I'd hate to order an other one from elsewhere and have them be wrong too.

is Krage (in the link above) a good enough cmopany that i could call and ask them to do a visual on the product first? i got a feeling that quadratec wouldnt......it was like pulling teeth to get 4wd to do it.

If they have it, they should do it for you no sweat. Explain the bad run of parts and that should help.

For whatever it's worth.... I bought a 'solex' carb from these guys about two months ago, it was $99 (best price I've seen). Works pretty good too! Something I didn't bother to research is who all makes "solex" carbs. The one I got was made by Omix if I recall. I'm not sure if other companies make the same "solex style" carb or not. I assumed they were made by Solex, but I dunno.
