Will a modern steering wheel puller work for this job in a 3b or do the wheels simply sdide on and off of the shaft? It looks like the shaft may have splines that the wheel fits onto. Maybe soak the area with lubricant for a while then try and pop the wheel off witha rubber mallet?

I know its been said a million times but make sure you leave the nut on the shaft just enough so the wheel doesnt suddnly come off and hit you in the nose ect.

OK, getchyerself one o' these, called a large bearing separator, and a large two-bolt puller....

Assemble thusly, with the FLAT side of the bearing separator against the bottom of the s/w hub, and tighten it all up snug. Might pop off when you tighten the screw... if not, whack the screw head with a hammer. A little PB Blaster wouldn't hurt either. You might want to leave the s/w nut on just a couple of threads, so the whole kit'n'kaboodle doesn't land in your lap.

Worked great for me. Others have had problems if they put the dished side of the separator against the s/w, it can bust up the bottom of the hub.

How far are you from Danbury CT? I might be up there Sunday or next week. I have the 3B setup and have pulled 20 or so wheels.
