Is it the hydraulic switch in the brake line?

It's a hydraulic switch that mounts on the front end of the MC.

This one just quit working all together. The last would only come on if you stood on the pedal.

At least they're easy to change and are fairly cheap.

same problem here. Best I can tell, they are all junk. If anyone knows of a good dependable brand, I'd like to here about it. I've been thinking about changing mine over to the lever type switch that is actuated by the pedal.

Would an air bubble at the switch inlet cause that problem? Seems to me like it might.

its possible there might be air in the system. i never had a problem until i did the disc brake swap and went to the two pound residual valve. i have been running my lights off my front switch i may try the rear switch before i change the front just to see if it works different, i still like the idea of the lights comming on sooner though, which is what the low pressure switch should do.

Standard is (was?) a quality product. I'd suspect that quality was the problem with the others. Napa should be good quality too.

Those are two brands I've tried. Standard and NAPA. they work great at first. but fail within a year. either no brake lights at all or have to stand on the pedal. I cut one apart, the contacts are what seems to bad, I might try the Ron Francis low preasure switch. I,ve had good luck with some of their other products.

If the contacts go bad, you may be putting more current through them than they are designed for. Anything non-stock about your electrical system?

You could easily add a relay (ie Bosch, Parts Express, ca $5) to take the load off of the switch.

installed the low pressure switch from painless wiring today, rebled front brakes. my brake lights now come on with a light touch on the pedal. my old switch may have been bad as it was 10 years old, the painless switch fit with my factory wires, the one i got off ebay had a different connector.
