I was over at the gf's house late last night and I get in the CJ to leave. I pull the headlight switch and nothing happens. My sidemarkers and gauge lights kick on but the headlights don't. Ok... I try my high beams, they still work, so I drive home while thoroughly ****ing everybody and their brother off because I'm blinding them.

Now when I was working on my brake lights yesterday a live wire touched the frame and shot off some sparks. Is there ANY way that this could have messed with my fuses or headlights? I figure either my wiring is messed up or my lights both blew because of that.

Earlier in the day I did have an issue with coolant spraying everywhere, I forgot to tighten the upper radiator hose. When the thermostat opened up it got really messy really fast. Is there a chance I dumped alot of glycol into a connection so it's fouled up? These things worked the day before...

Forgive me for being an idiot, but this thing has a dimmer switch? I wish I had a user's manual  Where can I find it.

You used it to turn on your high beams, no?

I don't know what else you would call the switch mounted on the floor, but I always called it a dimmer switch. :)

I'm going to check the connections first, a bunch of my wiring is getting bad connections from age. I'd prefer to just splice some wire or solder something up in the next day or two rather than wait for a part that I may not need.

Not like it's an uncommon item, or expensive, that and three of us here have experienced it's failure. ;)

I know, I looked up the replacement on Krage, it's $11 if I remember right. It's just that if I don't need it I won't buy it. There's a ton of $11 parts that I could use (including that water house Napa sold me on Saturday that didn't fit... It was wedged in there so tight I just chopped it off because that was easier than trying to slide it off) and they'll add up. I'm a college student, my funds are a bit limited...
