Has anyone out there installed "Bestop" seats in their Commando? If so, did you use the stock risers or fabricate custom mounts? I installed a pair of BMW, Recaro style seats in mine and they are total "crap". "Too hard" and "too narrow" for my big butt.
Are there any other good seat upgrades that wouyld be more economical?

If you can afford them, Bostrom seats are very comfortable. They sell to the bus and trucking trade mostly. Cushy with no bolsters, unlike the corner-bendy seats, so your butt will slide around if you try to corner fast.

a good cheap seat swap for commando is any seat from a cherokee.you remove the part of the frame that is riveted on and weld two flat cross members to the frames .the seat height is perfect and the seats are not bad for comfort.so there is my two cents lol

Well, I did it. I stepped up for the Bestop Trailmax Pro, with electirc heat. They are probably worth more than my Jeepster, but not my back side. They even bolted to the stock Commando seat risers. Literally a 20 min. installation.
Come next winter, I'm sure the heaters will pay off.
Thanks to everybody for their input. It was appreciated.
