I need some help. I have ownedabout 8 Jeeps but the oneI just bought on E bay has me stumped as to what it actually is. Here are the clues/facts: no title . no tailgate. rear of Jeep looks like military. I think it is about 1967. vacuum wipers. f134t90t18. no dash plaques or decals. spare tire bracket on back of Jeep where tailgate should be. Here is the big kicker,no stamped "JEEP" on the front fenders. I have heard that military and govt issue had these raised, stamped or embossed badges deleted. The back end looks military and the sides and front end looks civilian. :flag: Other facts: engine tran an transfer case are laying in the back end. I have to drive 355 miles north next week to dolly it home.I am thinking of having myself committed to some sort of Jeep drying out instution. Oh yeah, it was 330 dallars. And here's the really weird part----my wife thinks it's cool and cant wait to go get it and help me work on it! somebody slap me! thanks for any help!

Could be M38A1. There are amny posts on this site about the differences from CJ.

Obvious one is the dual battery box in front of the windshield, Another is the reverse shackles. There ought to be a inset on the right side n front of the door for an auxialliary power connector. And so on.

Try a search here or go to willysMjeeps.com.

No APU? Maybe a replacement front clip? Or a civvy jeep with a military tub fitted?

Are the headlights recessed, with non chrome trim "(doors)?" Grill hinged to frame at the bottom?

Frame crossbar under rear floor with plate for Machine Gun mount? Floor mounted e-brake between the seats?

    All those are military OEM.

    Enjoy!
