The jeep I found had some interesting things on it. It is a post 62 CJ5 w/ an earlier flat fender bumper weight. It has the Stratton 3 pt hitch w/ pto but note the taillights. The drivers side has a bracket between the tub and taillight but the pass side does not. On the 3B page there is a picture of this bracket behind an ALA taillight on a late 2A early 3A. Now my 3B Firejeep has this and I assumed it was both sides but now I know better. Note this is a Hall taillight. Anyone else have this?
This also has a spare tire vibration bracket.

This looks like a real farm jeep. Wonder if the PO had an earlier version and kept the front weight? Any sign of overland shocks or springs? Thanks for the pictures.

Good morning Kodiak, From the looks of that one you have your work cut out for you. Hey, I think I recognize that wait on the front, as One that came on a 1980s ford back-hoe that I bought new, they were bolted under the front to help keep the wheels on the ground. Great find and good luck with it. OH and thanks for the pictures.

The weight is a factory bumper weight for an early flat fender but if it was in stock and a weight was needed Willys used what was available.

Do you think the lift was from an earlier model jeep as well? I don't know when the last Starttons were made. And given the front weight, I wonder if the owner outfitted a new jeep with parts from his flat fender.

My 62 had a factory Stratton w/ pto on it, just like this one. It also had a Novi gov, power locks front and rear and a 4 way plow w/ a different 265lb bumper weight. I think it's all orginal down to the Hall taillights and spare tire vibration bracket.

Are you going to restore this one? I think the Stratton was the best design of all the lifts. I'd love to own one. Do you know any of the company history or where I might learn more?

    Thanks,
    Barry

The stratton lift is listed in the '63 owners manual in the approved special equipment section. How is the bumper weight different from the one that is supposed to be for the cj5? It looks the same to me. That stratton is cool, just what i'm looking for.

The bumper weight that was on my CJ5 bolted to the front of the bumper.
This CJ5 above also used a post hole digger that is long gone, Bill

I would love to have a jeep with a 3pt hitch. That would be cool. You should bring that to me in AL.

    Nice find.
