still confused/56 or 67 is there anyplace i should look for numbers or something that would lead me in the right direction,it does have fuel tank in back

what would be very helpful is if you posted some pics. the frame number tells you the frame is a 56. a rear gas tank could be installed in almost any Jeep, it was not factory in the 56 CJ.

maybe frame is 56,and tub is from newer cj,tub does not have the hole for tank under seat,it is stamped for it ,but not cut ,if weather permits tomarrow i'll un tarp it and take some pictures.it doesn't have orignal motor ,it has an early 60,s ford 289.

well, although the winshield frame looks like it may be a 56, the rest looks mighty close to 1970 to me.

yes ,the mail jeep is mine,73 dj5c, left hand drive,waiting on trans to get rebuilt,should be done anyday now, its a lot of fun to drive ,258 out of 84 jeep

about the only thing my numbers show is that it is either a 65 or a 66. unfortunately, it appears that the build date sticker idea hit the dash sometime in 1969, the reasonably complete statistical data kept by willys ended in 61, so in between those dates you're sorta outa luck. as we collect more CJ6 and CJ6A info, the picture may become somewhat clearer.
