ALright this is probably a repost of a repost But What size tire can you fit with SOA using stock springs and a 1" BL?? This has to be kind of a cheap build.

I have a 75 frame and a 79 body, set of full width 44s. I want to run 35s or 36s, a 302/435/??(not sure), and stretched as much as possible to keep the fuel tank in its stock location. I will be running the hood/fenders that was on Sams offroads CJ7.

    Any info would be great

SOA gives you 5-6 inches of lift. With a four inch I think you can clear 35's. Full width I doubt you have have any troubles running 36's.

SOA and cheap shouldn't be allowed in the same sentence. The biggest two issues become spring wrap which can be overcome fairly easily and the other is steering. Normally the drag link hits the passenger spring pack when articulating on a SOA. That means high steer to be safe, and a good quality set up that works the way it should runs about $650-$800. You should be able to clear the 36s alright. If it were me I'd leave the BL off and trim the fenders instead.

[hijack] Rock ready ram?? Its not the lime green one thats been on UA before is it?? [/hijack]

Your lift is noy the limiting factor on tire size, your axles are. I could fit 38's with my soa, but keep my tire size down because I only run 44's. When you add the front locker you will need alloy shafts and high quality u-joints. Even with those parts don't go any bigger than 36's with the front 44 and a front locker. FYI, the rear 44 will survive pretty long with stock shafts, but alloys wouldn't be a bad idea since the stock shafts will gradually twist. If you want to be serious, get a HP Dana 60 front, and any bigger axle in the rear ( HP60 rears are nice). Just remember what wheel bolt pattern you want.
I am sure you will be smart and go high steer. it is not just a necessary evil, it offers a lot. The tie rod and drag link are up and out of the way from trail damage, you will have probably reset your caster, and you should have no bumpsteer when you are done. My soa drives better than any stock cj I have ever driven, and it seems less likely to roll over.

What i meant by cheap is that its cheaping than me doing coils and links.

I will be outboarding the springs, so then hopefully i could lower it alittle then, I don't want to be top heavy. My wife wants us to put 35" boggers so thats what we are sticking with on tire size

And I am putting the BL on just to make it as flat belly as possible and plus i need to replace all the body mounts anyways

    High Steer.
Junkyard knuckles ---$150.00 for whole axle
Aftermarket arms-----$100.00 with no holes for rod ends (because only you can put them where they need to go)
    Rod ends and nuts----$120.00
    misc-----$150.00
    Your labor-----Free

Make it yourself. Save $$$. Have a better set-up.
Sit back. Admire it. Enjoy a

Do you need longer driveshafts when doing an SOA??? How do you stop spring wrap also??? Sorry to infringe on post, but figured it could be useful.

Seems to be a fairly complete set up except for the steering. The z-link drag link will clear the spring but not take care of the severe bumpsteer that will come with that set up. See above posts about hi-steer, knuckle over steering, or whatever you wish to call it. Nickmil
