My 73 CJ5 has a full roll cage installed by the PO. He was a little overzealous and built it taller than the windshield to protect it during a roll over. I have already decided to cut it down a couple inches to get the hardtop to fit. My questions is, do any of you have a full roll cage and also a nice canvas style cover for your Jeep. I normally prefer no top and can get away with it most of the year, here in CA. But, it does rain sometimes and I always have dew on the seats in the morning. I want a cover I can throw on at night. I doubt one designed for stock will work because of the custome cage. What brand and model do you use? I know I can measure, but most of the covers don't include full reliable dimensions on the web sites. If you already use one, I know it will fit and go with it. Otherwise I will measure and start calling the manufacturers. Do you think one for a YJ or TJ would fit?

I looked at those and really liked them, but it will not fit. My cage covers all the way to the back.

Well...you might try a generic car cover from an autoparts store like autozone or pepboys. I used to have one before i got the other. it worked well enough, but it didn't last very long.

I am looking for something a little more high end, but thanks for the suggestion. If I don't find someone that already has one, I will just measure and make some phone calls. Looking at rough size, I think one that is designed for a Wrangler with a hard top will be big enough and not so big it creates to many puddles.

A Wrangler has a 10" longer wheelbase, but I think you're right that the volume is about right. May be a little loose front-to-rear.

A local upholstery shop might stitch one up for you.

Get a plastic tarp with eyelits and a bunch of bunjie cords. Don't forget a stick and a frisbee to keep away the pregnant look. With that roll cage it would be twins! If you don't know what I mean, you will soon enough!

The Rain Gear covers from jeepcovers.com are good units, I've had one for years. I see that one for a CJ5 won't work for you... as said maybe one for a 93/up Wrangler might work. If it's too long you could modify it, or have it modified... might be cheaper that way than having a local upholstery or canvas shop make one from scratch... check places in your area that specialize in boating canvas/covers to make one or mod a Rain Gear unit.

I have a car cover on mine. It fits over my hard top. It even fits over the side mirror. I know it will fit over that roll bar. I put it on my Jeep when I park it under one of those portable carports. I forget what brand it is. I'll have to look when I go back over to my brothers where I keep it. Let me know if you need a picture.

No PIC necessary, but a brand and model would be great. Thanks.

I use a piece of 1" pvc slipped into a 1" X 2" T that is cut in half on each end. It is just slightly wider than the distance between the two roll bar bars. That makes a nice bow in between the two roll bar tubes to keep the water from puddling. I use it under my bikini top too.

I purchased a car cover for my 75 CJ-5 with the Kayline rear spare/jerry can mount that was a little unusual. I used California Car Covers..gave them the dimensions and they custom made the cover out of NOAH fabric. I've been very happy with the results.........

I had a custom cover made for my CJ-5. I do not have a top for my CJ and wanted a good cover to keep her clean in the garage. I have a flanel cover that follows the contour of the roll bar.
