See if something here might help.

You might also want to get a shop manual for it for better detail. If no one else posts anything different, I might be able to come up with something tomorrow for ya.

I had the same thing in my 74. Looked like a rats nest in the dash. I ripped it all out and am getting an EZ wiring harness. At least then I'll know it's right.

That is pretty much the best thing you can do. I rewired one using the wires that it had in it, I will never do it again.

Also, I'm not sure if my years are right or not, but the 74 may not have had a fuse box. Someone else, correct me if I'm wrong, cause I have been wrong before.

I don't think the tech pages have good intermediate diagrams. I found excellent intermediate diagrams in the reference section of my public library, and my Hayne's manual ($10) also has a '74 model year diagram.

Like someone else above suggested, I think you'd be better off starting fresh with an aftermarket wiring harness. However, if you like, I could scan the wiring diagrams in my 1974 factory service manual for you & E-Mail them to you.

When I rewired my '75 I found the Haynes to be accurate, but very hard to read (small print, a little fuzzy.)

74 does NOT have a fuse panel. There are like 3 or 4 inline fuses under the dash.

The following is just my opinion and is not meant to offend anyone. Make sure that you actually need a brand new wiring harness before you go drop the serious coin for one.

Granted the underhood wiring and frame harness can get mighty banged up but for a fraction of the cost of an EZ and way way less then a Painless these issues can be fixed up using the FSM, some crimp connects, and a couple of spools of wire from an electrical supply co. Stay away from the 25 foot rolls at the FLAPS, you'll go broke that way. Also usually underdash wiring is fine. It is well protected under there. Lots of times the factory used electrical tape to bundle it up, so it may just need to be rebundled and organized.

I know that there are some Jeeps out there that look like the PO took pleasure in cutting the harness up and in that case they may need to be completely replaced.

Bottom line it is your Jeep and you put it together any way you want. It is just that I have owned a half dozen Jeep's, never replaced a harness and all my accessories always work. I just hate to see people spend so much money when it may not be necessary. Regardless best of luck guys sorry for the rant.

What do you fellas think of this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/

Seems to be the ticket to me, simple and cheap. My wiring job looks like a package of ramen boiled over under my dash. R)

I looked at the above EBAY ad but for about $40.00 you can get everything there and do it yourself. The secret is a good diagram. I have a 74 CJ that did not look like any of the diagrams shown in the books. Someone here, I think "Kucerae", emailed these to me.
