Where doth the petroleum flee to?

IF your fuel pump has a vacume booster be sure to check it either diafram busted will cause it to suck oil into the manifold but it will usually cause the plugs to foul. $02.

 

they used to put a vacuum booster pump on the fuel pump of vehicles with vacuum wipers to keep them going when engine vaccuum goes to zero.

 

This may sound funny but my old farm jeep had a heckuva time holding the dipstick tube to the block until Nick Miller sent me a new one. Might you be getting an incorrect reading?

My other 2 WAG's are cracked head so its ending up in the coolant or main seals. What do I know though. I'm mechanically retarded.

In your original statement Sparkey you said "let's play a game" If this is a game then I say the oil went into the freshly changed oil filter. Or --someone must have taken a quart out when you weren"t looking. If you are serious then I say The oil was not burned, of course not, That would be way too obvious going down the street looking like the mosquito fogger. No the oil must have come out via some other passage besides the exhaust. Therefore I surmise the real culprit is your suspect rearmain.Otherwise you would have to have oil obvious on the front,the side or bottom of engine.Glenn had a good idea!! gotta go, ~ oldtime~

Just cause your plugs aren't fouling, and there is no smoke does not mean your not burning it, but that would be more like a qt every 1500-3000 miles. If the rear main was leaking, dead center under bell housing there would be a puddle. I would think a qt in a day you would see it dripping off the frame or undercarrage. Maybe a little of both, burning and leaking.

 

if it is not leaking out make sure your PVC valve is well sheilded and not sucking the oil directly into the intake and burning it. Plugs might not show that with good compression.
