I have a 48 Cj2A. Motor is stock L head conversion to 12V done long ago. When I am driving there is a problem with the engine cutting out. It also does this when I hold the throttle at 15 to 2000 rpm for a minute or so. It feels like the key is being turned off and then right back on. It affects the tach also, which is why I think it is electrical no fuel related. I also noticed the distributer cap wobbles a bit while the engine is running. Is this normal? This problem just started about 8 weeks ago. I only drive the Willys about 200 miles per year.

    Suggestion are appreciated.

    Thanks

On the distributor cap issue, mine originally came with a "new" cap that wobbled. I bought another one from NAPA that looked identical, but fit tightly. Appears that some caps have oversized cam slots. Should be tight. May not be your problem, but I would find a good quality cap that fits tightly. Good luck. CJ

Could be a bad ignition switch going bad if all goes dead. I would think even with a wobbly cap the tach would still be getting a signal.
