I'm doing some work on the '62 CJ over the Holidays & need some fresh ideas. Back in about 1976 I put a '75 windshield on my '62 CJ5. I got the nice electric wipers & bigger glass area (I'm 6" tall) but lost the flip out windshield that I liked so much & nothing on the hood lined up when the hood is up or the windshield is down. Also, there's no place to mount that latch on the new windshield. For the past 29 years I've gotton by with a repositioned tall footman loop to rest & tie the windshield to when it's down & a (really ugly!) rubber block to reduce damage to the soft top when the hood is open. There's got to be better ways. I've rummaged thru the site to see what the '75 jeep would have had but I really can't see much in the pictures as that's not really what anybody was taking a picture of. Anybody else do this? How'd you make a nice looking rest & stop & tie down? Pictures? Pic's of a post '74 CJ in this area? Thanx!!!

I think Boyink has the answer. He used TJ hood stops on his. I'll bet he'll chime in. ;)

That gave me an idea.... http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...0465254/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:10000020261110465254

So I guess I'll have to see where this stuff should be installed & poke some holes in my hood. Anybody got a picture & dimension C/C?

Now all I need is to figure out what to use to cushion the hood when it leans on the windshield when the top is off.....or just pull off the ugly rubber block & let the hood get all banged up.

On my 74 nothing cushions the hood when it's propped back against the windshield. It had a hood prop rod instead. I ditched the rod and just gently lay the hood back. It has a footman loop for tying down the windshield when it's folded down and it rests on two rubber-covered loops.

For the w/s coming down, I just installed the later model hood loops on the hood.

For the hood going up I borrowed an idea from Lynn and picked up a TJ bumper (used in place of the above loops) on the TJ's, installed in a different location here:

Thanx Guys! That picture gives me all the info I need to do this. My rubber snubber is slightly uglier than that one so I may just leave it, but I can figure out where to locate the holes for the new windshield rest from that picture! This site is great!
