You can find dana 30 jeep front axles on car-part.com. I searched for a '73 front axle just now. The top line shows one in garden city, Kansas, with 3.73 & lockout hubs. You can pick it up on your way to Colorado.

Just wondering what this hole is for in my tub near the passenger side of my gas tank. Some sort of PTO control port? I get alot of warm air blowing up through it when I'm in motion. I wanna plug it with something haha.

    1964 Cj5. F-134. T98 4-speed.

On the floor from the inside of the cab:

Under the tub with a rag stuffed in it:

Not sure but I used mine for the fuel return line and sending unit wiring.

My '56 has the same hole but is blanked off with an OEM plug.

Tonk has it as well, always though it was a carryover from the M38A1 for something.

Right next to the fuel tank... looks like the right size for a cigarette lighter.

How does the fording kit vent the m38a1 fuel tank?

I know what it is. Just can’t find any to buy.

Fine thread teardrop head backing plate bolt. Are these available? Thanks.

In a quick check I found these. Looks like a ground off grade 8 bolt. The are 3/8-24. If just need one, I would grind a bolt down. Another option used is T-bolts.
I would grind before using those. The J0994313 bolt is listed for dana 44 but not for older Jeeps. Don't know why and could not find a length.

It would be great if they gave some dimensions of the bolts. I’d love to get the real correct bolts somehow.

This bracket is on the outside of the windshield. What would go into this slot? Maybe for a canvas top mounting point?

My '47 CJ2A had a similar channel & accepted a Bestop soft top manufactured in the 1970's.
Just looked and my '66 & '67 CJ5's have a windshield channel -- but no soft tops!

Yep, it's where the front of soft tops hooks to the windshield:

9 months ago, I would have asked what the big green metal thing is!

What is this threaded hole on the passenger side of the block behind the mounting bracket? As far as I can tell, it didn’t have anything in I when I got the jeep.

That is for an "L" shaped bracket that attaches to the starter. An extra support. I had a bad starter and the replacement did not
have the hole for the bracket though it was shown in the picture. I ended up drilling and tapping the hole.
I like the re-builder tag. Quite the dent in your oil pan.

Thanks. I’ll check and see whether there is a place to attach a bracket to my starter. The oil pan dent shouldn’t cause any functional problem, should it?

Follow up question: is there any reason to plug that hole?

The pan should be ok and the hole is just a threaded hole. Probably a lot of Jeeps with no support brackets.

I just changed the starter on my '66 V-6. It didn't have the extra bracket.
