Yes, my frame has the jeep sun visors mounted in those holes. My jeep is down in the work shop at my brothers place 30 miles away. I am in hospital for some minor surgery today. I will be down there next week and can take a photo for you.
I may have a windshield frame and a visor at home in my jeep parts shed. I will check tonight and see.

That's exactly how those covers fit. After you set the windshield & it's gasket , you'll install that cover so that the top edge is even with the WS gasket . I put a sealing foam type gasket on my cover , top & sides only. You're right that the bottom is left open , for weepage & air flow.

OH ..... & GodSpeed on your procedure today , Fogie.

OK COOL! I need to find a correct rear view mirror as well. Seems like they're the holy grail.

Just curious, this is how the wires from the wiper motor make their way inside the dash on my ‘70.

    is this a stock configuration?

My 71 has the two different size ones. The one on the drivers side is shorter to miss the mirror when folded down.

Not wanting to drill a hole in the dash, I ran my wire under the bottom and strapped to one of the dash bolts. Then used a weatherpack connector before
strapping to the windshield frame. I wasn't looking to do a restoration look so i had free will. The dash is padded and helps to cover all the previous holes.

I’m cleaning and painting my propeller shafts and servicing my u joints because - well apparently I have nothing better to do, or maybe I am developing a clean my jeep fetish - but that’s not the point.
There is a washer welded into the side of my propeller shaft. What’s up with that?

Sorry for the thread hopping, but while we have a good photo may I ask if anyone knows where to find a new windshield "hold down strap" with the twist lock/clasp like the one in the photo located between the sun visors?

Walcks did have them but he’s no longer in business. Here’s a link from KW. Not sure if it’s Walcks old inventory or not.

Suspicion confirmed. Both speedos at the same input rpm. Note that both needles point in nearly identical positions, eclipsing the first digit in the odometer window.
So, same internal works, only the face is different. Oh, and the odometer gearing, presumably

This is on a '67 CJ5 V-6. The item is about 2" long and 1/4" square. It's under the dash tied in a wire that I haven't been able to trace. A previous owner sprayed the floor black and covered most of the wires which makes tracing challenging. The red and yellow connectors above it go to the heater motor which has been disconnected because the heater core and hoses have been removed.

Looks a lot like a ballast resistor for the ignition coil. Ought to be part of the "run" circuit from the ignition switch to the coil. "Start" position by-passes it when cranking.

Could have been a dropping resister to lower the blower speed

Flux capacitor! May have been a resistor for heater fan speed control. I love when people get carried away with that black stuff.
