I went to start the jeep, and because it's a cold blooded monster, it didn't fire over after the first turn of the key. Switched it to off, kept on cranking over. Took the key out, and it still kept cranking. Jumped out, looked for a half inch wrench, still cranking over. Removed the negative battery terminal.

Some say if you listen real close, you can hear it cranking 'til this very day

Napa Echlin KS6180 would probably suit your purposes, you should probably be able to cross-ref that at any FLAPS.

Is the problem in the switch or the solenoid?
Is the solenoid 3 wire or 4 wire.......

The OEM switch isa Pollak brand. I agree with Desert Runner’s comment in post #5 that the problem is likely a starter solenoid sticking.

Key is off, wouldn't it cut off power to the solenoid?

Yeah, if it's working properly. Another possibility is the contacts in the solenoid could be welded together.

Pull the start wire off the switch and hook up the battery. See what happens. If nothing, then touch the wire to the switch momentarily with the key off.
If it cranks, then the switch is bad.

This happened last week as well, although it self corrected and had run fine over the weekend. That's whi I'm leaning towards the switch vs the solenoid

If after checking the solenoid, you find you need an ignitions switch, you might try a boat switch. Your local boating dealer should have a selection or you can order them on line.

Is the switch loose as in sloppy or worn out feeling? If not I'm inclined to agree it sounds more like a solenoid issue.

There is probably a 1/16 wiggle back and forth when the key is inserted at the vertical/off position until it turns on.

I will test the solenoid today.

@Lockman is sending me ignition so either way, I should be rolling soon enough
