I know, 10 years ago it was quaint by today's standard. Now we are concerned with just trying to find each other. First guy there (last night), is going to send me an OnX pin by text (once he finds signal), just so I can find camp.

Sounds like you need some good old smoke signals.
    Got any sea foam?

I bet the younger crowd brings less alcohol and more ganga.

Last time I was out there, day after the race we hardly saw anybody. Place was empty. Watching it online now and seeing Hammertown, place is massive.

I once saw a helium inflated love doll (rubber maid) on a 50' tether in a sea of motor homes at Laguna Seca.

Pretty much a wrap. Early observations caster is up to 11° so going to pull my 4° shims out and should be about right. 5856.jpeg 5855.jpeg
I may have to change how the shackles are braced. Its possible the center stiffener will hit the frame rail limiting travel. Testing first.

Got the pin. Going to try the OnX thing this week. Looks great for using offline maps. (No cell service).

I pulled the caster shims and still have 5°. Front end came up at least 1/2" looks much better. Stripped a u bolt torquing back up.. My friend Brian of Peake Fabrication milled me this awesome hawse fairlead and sent it to me. Dyneema winch rope on order. And a u bolt...

@ITLKSEZ gave me a pair of very cool vintage KC HiLites. Originally, I planned to mount the lights outboard of the winch and tow hooks on my '68, but ITLKSEZ suggested mounting them above the fairlead and using the fairlead roller bolts as the hold down points. I welded up a bracket and added anti-spin flaps (another ITLKSEZ suggestion).

I painted the bracket and wanting to finish the project immediately, baked it in the oven at 200 degrees to dry the paint. I bolted the bracket and lights into place. I wired up the lights and used another ITLKSEZ idea. When ITLKSEZ had these lights on his jeep, instead of drilling a hole in the dash for a switch, he had these lights wired up to his high beams, with an override toggle switch inline to turn them off. I did the same thing. I installed a typical auto relay by the headlight wiring block and fabricated a bracket for a toggle switch under the hood. Turning on the high beams triggers the relay, unless the override switch is thrown. The power to the lights goes through the relay to a fuse to the battery.

It steers very well! Only a tiny movement needed to correct drifting at speeds up to 50 mph. There is relatively NO slop anymore.

Road tested. Shackle reversal definitely an improvement. No more roll steer or darting issues. Had it up to 65 and was comfortable. Don't even have a stabilizer and not going to put one back on ( Iron Mike mine claimed it last August) Suspension actually feels softer, if that's possible. There is a slight nose down on hard braking, it stays straight and is not a problem.

I think I got all the wires, that came thru the firewall, removed

So now I need to make a 10 wire harness to get to all of the accessories. And of course I only have a 7 pin bulkhead connector.......:susp:

It really is getting better, really......

Sorry no pic, finally got the heater box pulled and the core replaced, lubricated the motor, a little, cleaned out all the sticks and debris. It's ready to reinstall.
Now waiting on bulk head connectors and wire to start reconnecting everything. hopefully a lot neater this time.
