Looking for an HP 11C or 15C scientific calculator. Other HP Scientific calculators might be considered if they support RPN.

    Thanks,

    Joel

I've got an HP 11 and HP 35s I won't selling. I have also had a 42, 48gx and 28s in the past but sold them all on Ebay years ago. Good luck with your search.

Now that I always have my smart phone with me, I've installed that paid version of Realcalc: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.nickfines.RealCalc and never looked back. I always have a virtual RPN calulator with me and haven't touched an actual calculator in years.

I also have free42 on my phone and use it all the time on my desktop machine: https://thomasokken.com/free42/

That one is a bit steep Howard. :) I'm looking for my son he's a second semester freshman taking Chemistry. His professor recommended a cheap TI. I just remember what a difference my HP12C made in my MBA finance classes. I'm pretty sure he won't be allowed to use a phone app. It's funny you can still pick up 12c for $50, but the RPN scientific calcs are priced super high.

I'm watching a bunch on eBay, but I figured I'd ask here.

For the life of me I cannot imagine why a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) would need a 11 Horsepower calculator, let alone 15 HP or 35 HP.

That math is wayyyyy beyond me. Interesting though.

I have a TI-30X11S if that does anything for you. I think I still have the instructions for it. Just pay postage. I know nothing about scientific calculators, this was required for a math class I needed to finish my degree. I also have a Casio fx-115ES
You can have for postage. One of the other. No idea where I got this one. I need to keep one or the other as a calculator.

I have a few of those slide rules Howard.
I keep a wooden one in my toolbox at work, anytime someone asks to borrow my calculator that is what I hand them.

I have a few I keep on the divider wall at work- I enjoy it when the engineers stop by and ask what they are :twist:

I can actually decipher my old wooden ones
And do basic math, have a more modern double slided one that reads on both sides. It just hurts to even look at.
And to think, that's how we landed on the moon.

I'm way out of practice but i was taught at one point how to use them. You pretty much have to have a reasonable idea of the answer before you begin & that does give you a better idea of the relationships- I know guys who can solve for an equation with ease but can't spot it when thy make a mistake plugging in the numbers & get a totally ridiculous answer.

    It's a lost skill.
I taught myself the single slide by already knowing the answer and went from there.
The double slide/ double side is a whole different critter, I can't even find the single slide answers on that one.

I'm as lost as the poor kid I was trying to teach vernier calipers to the other day.

I used a HP 41CV for a couple decades with the stat/math pack modules. I still hate anything other than RPN. Way more efficient entry. I use my wife's 32SII now but still like the 41 key board better. I remember well my first meeting with a HP35. Surveying roads for the Forest Service about 1972. It was heaven. No more trig tables and hand cranking-------
