My Omix 17233.01 dimmer switch lasted a not long time before it broke. Does anyone know of a direct replacement from another supplier? My floor is drilled for the wider spacing of screw holes and I have screw terminals. The other listings I'm finding don't seem to have these features.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Another case of SOS-sad omix saga. I flat will not purchase any of their products.

I would bet the dimmer switch used in Jeeps was not exclusive to Jeeps, and one from another vehicle would work. If I needed a dimmer switch I would go shopping at the junk yard before I would buy one labeled OMIX-ADA.

That NOS listing is tempting. I'll need to look at what else I might need from Debella, his min shipping charge is around $15 apparently, which I absolutely understand for a small business

It might be a good time to consider moving that wire harness INSIDE the vehicle. Most rewire kits do just that. It's easy to find a foot dimmer switch with internal electrical contacts. ;)
You can fab a small cover plate to seal the floor hole.

I moved mine inside...came apart before I could use it. Has a pot metal body crimped over the plastic. Found that
there used to be a sturdier design. Saw pictures I believe at Summit...called and it was the same chinesium as the rest
I was finding. Mixed up a little JB weld and done. Wired to turn on separately fused high and low beam relays. This keeps the
current draw low on the light switch and dimmer when on.

I've had good luck with Standard parts in the past. They've been good quality.

Classic Industries or LMC...1947 to 1955 Chevrolet or Gmc truck. Listed as 6 volt but I don't think the switch will know. Manufacturer is unknown. Lots of old GM applications.

That foot switch was used on about half the cars from the late ‘50s through into the ‘70s. Some had the wide pattern mounting flange, others a narrower symmetric pattern. There should be lots of NOS switches in places like eBay, just get old-stock USA made parts. Most of the Omix parts are garbage, as you found out. I almost never buy anything from that brand.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered the Standard Motor Products model, hopefully that should work. It would be nice to move the wiring inside but I think that would require me to cut a lot of loom open. I'll see how this switch does.

If you get an American made switch, you should get another 30+ years out of it. I used to spray the exposed switch with a greasy undercoat to protect it from the tire spray/mud.
