    Hi Richie!

I saw that ad as well. Really hoping to find something more local to me but thanks for looking out for me!

Agreed that it’s beautiful out here. I’m originally from Minnesota and it was a big change moving here. Been just three years and a week since the big move!... coming up on a year and a half since I got the CJ. Not sure which is the better date to remember! :D

yup I painted it with some ford dark red base coat clear coat from nason . I had a customer bring paint for his giant ford four door one ton dually thing he brought too much, max got the two quarts of base that were left over. it could use freshening up but its more fun to beat up than paint. being fiberglass no dents, just fractures.

Minnesota to Woodland Park Is a good move. Not near as extreme weather. We lived in Parker, Old horse country, but not anymore . :(
I remember a snowstorm in the afternoon, then the next day the sun would shine and it would be gone the next Day ! Not like the long gloomy winters arond the Great lakes.

I don't know if you ever found a tach that you liked, but if you could locate one of these it would be correct for you. I not ready to part with mine yet

I did!... hasn’t been installed yet. Found an older Super Pro and made a mount for it. It needs to be painted yet but otherwise it’s ready to go in.

Been a while... not much has changed. Things have mostly declined but this little CJ keeps kicking.

I feel as though this little Jeep got yet another extension on its borrowed time with this drivetrain. Lately I’ve been dreading the feel of the clutch and the effort and timing it takes to shift from gear to gear. Assuming that the clutch was on its way out and that was that I’ve just been sour about the CJ. On a whim I crawled under it this morning and had a look at the pushrod adjustment. “Surely it can’t have much left to give!”

... but it had enough. The clutch feels great again! I took about a half inch of slop out of the linkage. Then I rolled over to find a big drip of brake fluid rolling down the front left tire. See, back when I put disk brakes on the front it was just a kit we had on the shelf at the four wheel shop I was working at. Who knows what the brake hoses were for?! I took one off and brought I over to my buddy at the local Napa. We looked up different applications, looked through catalogues, started opening boxes, and we finally found a couple perfect hoses that were about an inch shorter than I had. Low and behold, they turned out being for a late ‘70s CJ5/7/8... go figure.

In any case, the brakes feel great and my clutch is functional again. Still waiting on the other shoe to drop for the engine to yard sale on me.

I’ve felt that way with my dump truck for 12 years now, but it keeps going. My dad used to tell me, “It’s not the noisy ones you have to worry about. It’s the quiet ones.”
I think he was onto something.

I try to tell myself that every time I turn the key! Seeing what I saw and trying to keep the caliper on the high spots of the worn crank when I dropped the pan and caps is the image that haunts my dreams though. I’ll try to enjoy it until I can make a plan for what’s next but the truth is that this surely old Jeep is just tired. It already had one heart transplant and it really needs to get its name back on that list. :waiting:

I washed my wife’s car today which got me thinking about the Comet wash from last year. How’s it holding up?

Meh... not terrible?... but not red either. It doesn’t have that chalky feel to it before the Comet but it obviously hasn’t kept the color. Whatever. Maybe I’ll hit it with another bottle of NuFinish... maybe.

It's not terrible. I've stopped calling it pink. People find it much more interesting when I say "it's close to an older factory color called 'Indian ceramic'". :schooled:

Big update, I suppose. While I’ve been enjoying the CJ going top less around town for the past week there’s rain off and on coming up.

There’s been an issue in the wintertime that I’m trying to address now… the top panel. The sun hits it, warms up, and then the air condensates and rains down while you’re in it. I’ve wanted to do this from the start also anyhow.

I know it’s not correct for 1975, but I painted the windshield frame black also.

This solidified my plans for making roll up safari sides for the top for next summer. Kind of a best of both worlds type of deal for a top, I think.

Then it all went back together.

It definitely wears itself older than it is now. I dig it. Now… about those black wheels…

Guess it’s time for a yearly update. There’s so much more room in my shop with this in here instead of my truck!… which I should probably also give an update on.

The CJ got granted shop access because the other day I noticed the radiator overflow bottle was falling apart.

It had a couple tabs at the top that it hung from. They decided to give up. In its place I installed a smaller unit from my parts pile.

Then I got looking at other small stuff that bothers me. This started with the hood latches that were bolted down backwards…

… and then I cut my leg on the winch cable for the last time.

Hey man, Jeep is looking great! I hate to be the one to say it, but I think your winch clamps are on upside down. Google "never saddle a dead horse".

This has been bugging me lately too.

Could’ve sworn I had something lined up for that.

Oh! So that’s where I left that switch panel!

Also going through my pile of parts finding things to piece together a rear tire carrier.

Nope. The electrical tape at the end kind of gives the look that the saddles are on the dead end. I assure you, the dead horse is not saddled.
