I'm looking for some good pictures of the linkage for the throttle. I really need the parts from the head and the rod across the head and the linkage that hooks to on the carb. My linkage across the head is hitting the valve cover and the p[iece that it hooks to on the carb is bent. I'm not sure what the correct piece on the carb and if I have the right one or not. I'm thinking that the bar across the valve cover should be off the cover and not resting on it. Any pics would be greatly appreciated.

Not quite what you're looking for but...

Sounds like the rod (22) going across the valve cover doesn't have the bends' it's supposed to.

I had a similar problem that was compounded by having a Solex carb that has the choke cable exiting right across the path of that linkage. I removed the existing linkage to use on a future conversion back to a Carter, but in the meantime, I bought one of these and bent it to my needs. Gives a lot of adjustment! Best wishes.

ps: There is a small chance you have a Carter for a right hand drive engine. I can send photos comparing the bellcranks on both if you suspect that is what you have. The rest of the carb is the same.

I’m thinking as I look at more, that it’s the carb linkage that the bar attaches to. I think it’s bent to much.

The bar does come close to the cover but shouldn't be hitting it. looks like it could use a bit more bend at the bellcrank end, that throttle lever is definitely not helping.

These might help. One is a carb I am rebuilding to put into my jeep (it has a Solex) and the other two are from my next project, so they are a bit dirty. But they show the positions decently. Looks like if you bent that crank on the side of the carb back into its proper shape, it might push the linkage over the valve cover up a little? Hard to say, but that is a start. The crank on the side of the carb comes off so you might be able to put it in a vise while you gently bend it back into shape.

Yes I got it fixed. I just bent the bar some more to fit over the valve cover and also bent the plate on the carb that it connects to. It now idles down to the correct speed
