Is the bolt pattern on the power boxes the same as the manual boxes?

Jeep power and manual boxes both use the exact same mounting pattern.
Except that the power box is 4 bolts while the manual is just 3 bolts.
The slightly smaller manual boxes will alway fit in place of power boxes.
I always set mine up for the 4 bolt power box considering clearance and fitment even when I only install a manual box.

Same as oldtime - I set mine up for a power box even if I'm putting a manual in. Makes it easier for folks to change later if they want to. I've even got a bad box I use for fitting them up when I do a build or conversion for folks.

If I’m not mistaken the J10 used the best boxes and the same as the CJ’s.
The Saginaw 400 series power steering box,
I expect the Jeep boxes will all have the big “78” embossed onto the casting.

The J10 steering gears are the same as the Wagoneer/Cherokee steering gears, and overlap with the CJ-5 gears though not in the same years. I think they are ordinary GM passenger car gears. The J20 has a larger diameter gear that is different and sought after. It's the same as the unit used in some GM commercial chassis, though I don't know what the year/model coverage is. AFAIK the J20 gear has the same bolt-in pattern as the lighter-duty Wagoneer gears.
