Well - Finally got the 'OK' from the Dr and I can 'start' to get back to normal after the back surgery. They went in Front (7" incision left of the belly button) and Back (6" incision right of the spine) - Spinal Decompression and Fusion. Replaced the disks L4 - L5 - S1.

I can barely tie my shoes and put my socks on, so picking up tools should be good PT I'm figuring. Now I just need the weather to cooperate and I can get back out to the shop and work on getting this done. I'd like to have it ready for some light test wheeling in June so it can find a new home by the end of summer.

Great you’re able to get moving more. I’d love to see you wheeling with the group in August.

Ever feel like a cheap toy that the warranty has expired on? I do.... somehow it seems I've torn the rotator cuff in the left shoulder. Can't lift the arm past mid chest.

This is gonna put another dent in the time to finish this up. Still trying to do a few things while I wait on the MRI and Dr report. Got the frame up on the hoist, ready for some cleaning and finish welding on the fab work.

Tub is still on the rotisserie, fenders on stands, grill ready for color. Need to pull the hood, tail gate, and wind shield out next. Hood will need some sanding as the blaster's rig was too hard. He won't do hoods as he has warped too many over the years - can't blame him.

I will say the paint I put on last fall has set real well over the winter.

Also got to find a spot to setup the lathe and finish setting the mill.

I had rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago. Plan on a long recovery, shoulders heal slowly. I had to wear a big sling that totally immobilized my arm for 6 weeks.

Yup - this will be my second one - did the right one about 20 years ago... Took almost a year before I could shoot my 7mm Mag for elk, but then I did the final tear hunting the year before.

Its official - things are on hold for a bit. Surgery is Monday.

Doing the 'paperwork' and I did the Right one 18 years ago. And this will make a surgery every year, for 7 straight years.

No wonder I twitch when someone says "Go to the Dr and have that looked at..."

That may be a stretch. The plan was to be able to wheel the '63 build as a shake down and probably take the '51 for fun. Dr said it will depend on what he finds once he gets 'inside' as I've got at least 3 tears and issues with the clavicle where it ends at the shoulder point. Said a possible 4th and issues where the muscle attaches to the bone as well.

Yay - but I did just order this real cool shoulder sling and brace :susp:

Well, time for a Dr update since I can't do anything on the jeep (least ways without being shot by the wife - she is dead set on being healthy for the trip to Europe next summer)...

Healing is going good, but the Dr said I made his list for 'top 10 most screwed up shoulders without being in an accident'. Had my second post-op check and while things are moving well, I still have 4 to 6 weeks before I can do anything over 2lbs with it. Ended up with 5 tears in the shoulder and reattaching the bicep - guess I made it to the 'must have' point I was targeting before doing it again.

Coming up on a year since spinal fusion surgery ( 8 Sept ) - blew it out the end of June. Shoulder was done first week of May, so things have piled up for a year. Its amazing how much of a pile of 'crap' has grown on the bench and around the shop in the year plus of not being able to do things.

Dr finally said "OK" to more than 5# with the left arm/shoulder. So I got out to the shop and actually "did something" in so long

Got lots to do to catch up on projects, but the first goal is to get paint on the rest of the tins so I can finish this thing this winter. Need a rack to paint the Hood, Grill, and Tail Gate so I jury rigged this up. I wedged some pipe in the mount on the hoist with an old metal bed frame for a grid on top, hooked with some cut coil springs. Looks rickety, but is actually quite tight in the wedging and won't move.

Bonus is it moves up and down so I can easily hang stuff on it. I hope to get things all painted over the next couple weeks and then I'll start on some other things I need to do before winter sets in again.

I can say over a year of sitting around has made things tough - surgeries didn't help either. I only got 4 hours in and had to quit before I couldn't move.

Wife still has the bat out so I don't over do things, but damn it felt good to actually do something again

Just a couple of questions before the doctor comes in ... "Are your medications still the same as last time" (yes). "Do you have any allergies?" (Yes, I do, I am allergic to: 1) Doctors 2) needles, 3) knives.)
