Thanks to everybody who provided input on my request for comments/corrections for my firewall diagram a few weeks back.

I've incorporated them into this version-

There's still a few items I'd like to get cleared up for the final version so-

-If any of you know what any of the "?" holes are for or exactly when they appeared I'd appreaciate hearing from you :)

-If I've missed anything you think should be there.

-I'd also like to know when the heater with the vacume control system appeared so I can label those drawings-

I've put in inch scales but things arn't 100% accurate yet, that will be in the final (hopefully that will be the next one) version .

Again, an editable BMP version of this drawing is available Here

    Thanks,

    H.

"Click".."Save".."Print"!!! You da man Howard! That looks great! My passenger side firewall looks like someone used it for .50 cal and 20mm target practice, the worst part of my whole tub. Too many different heaters over the years, I guess.

looking thru the eraly parts manuals at all the spec equip/accessories options
could #4 be for a t-handle govenor control cable ?
also they show a foot operated w/s/w pump/washer kit
one of the holes would have to be for the hose from the bag to foot pump; and foot pump to the nozzle
    all I can think of

edit: maybe you drill holes for the washer kit; it would have to be on the driver side for driver operation (duh)

re. The governor- I considered that, I know the cable comes through there somewheres but the hole shown isn't on the v. early models. As the governor setups go back to the original 2s I would think that if thehole is for the governor cable Willys would have put it there starting in '55.

    Just out of curiosity,,,
Been cleaning up my a1 tub the last 2 weeks so getting a little more familiar with it. I'll have it home today to get a good pic of the firewall on it.

THe holes you have listed as M1, My tub has a cuttout on the pass side floor on the angled part for a millitary heater. I just assumed those 2 holes where for the heater hoses. THere are a couple other holes up higher that had rubber grommets in them that I would think would work better for battery cables.
I'll post a pic later today and show you the other holes in mine.

    howard,
awesome stuff. is this a cad drawing? if so, would you be willing to send me a 2000 compatible drawing? my firewall is like swiss cheese from the idiot p.o. so trying to rebuild it might be easier with something like this handy

Not really CAD , more like cad :).

I did it up in MSPaint, which is sorta PC equivalent of a dull pencil & a used napkin:twisted: I purposely used Paint instead of a real CAD program because I figured virtually everybody already has it on thier PC & justabout anyone can figure out how to use it. Since the original file is in a Bit Mapped format you should be able to import it into virtually any graphics package & edit it, that BMP file can be found here-

no kidding, i didn't think it was possible to do anything to any type of scale in paint. i might import the image and make cad drawing out of it. if i ever get anytime.

which leads me to this crazy question:
anyone have a 71 to 75? tub around colorado, that i could do a little measuring on. stripped tub would be ideal but even somones driver would be helpful... need to figure out where to put the holes in my 58 to mount my 74 pedal and steering wheel.

Ok, here's 2 pics of my firewall. One shows the pass side and the other shows the inside pass floor. I was told the millitary heater fit this opening. Never seen one to know how the heater hoses route, but I just assumed they went thru these 2 holes. Could be wrong though;)

The top 2 holes in the pic go into the battery box. They had rubber gromlets on them also. Just figured they where for the battery cables. I think the one you have labled the drain, does go into the box, but its too high up to completly drain the box. There's no floor in my box, but it would make more sense to have the drain in the bottom panel. Again, just my $.02

Here's the pic Howard. After thinking about it and looking it over again that hole would be either choke or speedo. As you can see there are two holes grommeted the same way right next to each other. I'll get back to on that when I put it back together.

This is wonderfull. When I yanked out all the wiring, throttle and brake cables I didn't mark the holes. This templete is the lifesaver. When it's done I hope you will sticky or put in the tech section Sparky.

    Thanks Howard!
