I'm putting together my CJ5 with the V6 presently. The previous owner had a mechanical oil pressure gauge installed and disabled the oil light on the cluster. I figured out which wire turns on the light when it's grounded. However, this wire terminates in this connector which isn't plugged into anything. The connector is near the oil filter and is the same part of the harness that goes to the starter. Is this a stock configuration for some other functions? Or just a previous modification? The other wires don't do anything that i can tell.

    Thanks,

That plug in your photo looks like it is for a 3-terminal style switch that threaded into the galley by the oil pump.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know what the function of the other two terminals is? All the switches I see are for a single wire

Not sure this will help but here’s a pic of the wiring diagram from my service manual

Do you have the original alternator and regulator? This looks more to me like the plug for the original voltage regulator, which could have been on the inner fender near that location.

    Fireball and dnb71R2 like this.

Here’s a pic of the connector going into my voltage regulator on the fender. Yours does look similar.

That must be it. I have a 10SI type alternator. I traced that wire back to the alternator and it looks like some cutting and splicing happened at some point. Thanks for the replies
