You can do anything, if you don't mind doing some fabrication. I don't know that a YJ ever came with manual brakes, but later CJ's sure did, and I don't know if the YJ changed the pedal assembly much, based on what I can recall.

I don't think the YJ did but if you source a MC for a non-power CJ with disc brakes it should bolt up. I do have Late CJ pedals in mine with this setup.

Decision made (for now). On the 4th post Ed suggested this setup. I ordered a S10 brake booster & MC from RockAuto for under $120. This booster mounts directly to the firewall and will easily solve the problem - as long as I can make the pushrod connection to the YJ pedals. Fingers Crossed.

I agree...... It would be a similar footprint as a Hydroboost. My concern was that your Clutch system is part of the system....... That's why it's so far off the Firewall now ???? . If that's not a problem & you can bolt the Vacuum Booster up close to your firewall, you should be good to Go ( or more importantly, Stop ) . :D

YJ and late CJ pedals with hydraulic clutch are very similar. The bolt pattern, pedals, and the dash support bracketry are virtually the same.

So much more room than a flat fender. Late 90's Nissan pickup stuff.

Btw. Under the hood of a 97 Pathfinder today it uses a remote ps reservoir, looks like it could be easily adapted.

My final Fix would be to get those Saginaw Lines on some 90 degree fittings & out of the way. Then go with the low mount power steering bracket. That should do it. :schooled:

I really thought it might work.

BUT with the low mount I have the pump to low and I have less than in inch to get the lines onto the steering gear.

    I have a high mount…
    [IMG]

    And a low mount…
    [IMG]

    I need a mid mount.
Is there another mount other than the two I have?

I was writing out a long arse post, before I thought to check. You've got the herm's kit that uses a Bronco steering box. I just kept looking at that picture and going "what the hell did I feck up on my saginaw conversion, because my hydraulic ports are clear out in front of the bloody grill!"

Try some 90 Degree fittings, then swing your pump up . I believe it will clear .But first , from your pic , there appears to be a crack on the inside forward thread of your steering box. :susp::shock:

I think that low mount ps pump bracket can be raised fairly simply. Try bolting it on with only the innermost bolt (the one missing in the picture). You should be able to pivot the ps pump upwards - I think you can only go so far until it wants to hit the valve cover - tighten the one bolt and see how it works out. If its ok you would need to redrill the upper bolt into the bracket and add an ear to the bottom of the bracket to catch the bottom bolt. I think you could bolt the alternator bracket to the ps bracket to use as a template (mirror image) to drill the new holes.

As far as the power booster mount/linkage is concerned - I believe its purpose is to decrease the pedal ratio for the power brakes.

can you lower the transfercase or raise the motor (fresh mounts)

ideally a custom pump bracket or used remote housing can be found. (Ebay?)

Looked at this today before I left for work and I'm 95% sure it will work!!

Question is ; What exactly are the connections on the ford PS gear? The two connections are slightly different size and I know it isn't the same as a GM PS gear.

I don't recall exactly, but 11/16 and 5/8 inverted flare come to mind.
