I'm going with a small block Chevy. Is the postal frame the same other than out board spring hangers on the rear. I can make it work and probably be a lot less work than this thing I have

Others here may know. The rears are out boarded.
Its yours if you want it. I bought it for the fenders and steering column. It is otherwise complete, tub must be destroyed and scrapped. If you want to remove the tub in my yard I can dispose of it.

This is awesome. Postal frames are pretty stout. They are even factory boxed back to the rear spring hangers. Much better than piecing together the old one.

Here's the one in my 20+ year long (so far) flatfender project:

Yes, same basic rails and width as an early CJ5.

    Differences i can remember:
    • Rear springs are outbaorded.
    • Rear shock mounts are inboarded and welded to the over-axle cross frame.
    • Front shock mounts are behind the axle (which works out well for tie rod clearance if you keep them).
    • Mail Jeep specific bumpers on both ends. I just trimmed them.
    • Fully boxed rails back to the front rear spring mounts.
    • Body mounts may or may not all be in the same places.
    • There is no welded in radiator cross frame. There is a U-shaped bolt-in cross frame under the engine and another under the transmission.
Overall any and all mods you need to do are a lot less work than fixing the old frame. Mail Jeep frames tend to be in decent shape with no cracks. While they saw a lot of miles, they typically never saw the same sort of abuse a normal Jeep did.

Should also have a full set of 11" drum brakes on it, centered flanged axle 44 and Dana 30 hubs and spindles. There's alot of useable parts on a Postal. The frames are a great upgrade and alternative to custom frames

Work is an overrated four letter word. But a necessity to afford our Jeep’s.

Little bit of work on the new to me postal frame . Removed the mail box proof rear bumper and all the brackets and front cross member. Started removing the out board spring hangers got two of them removed what a chore that was . 20220116_150432_compress64.jpg 20220116_150413_compress92.jpg 20220116_125722_compress14.jpg
