My Jeep is unique. I have a 700R4 Auto Tranny w/ overdrive. The Front shaft bangs on the tranny pan when flexing on moderate trails. the pan is powder coated steel. I'm going to have a local Fab shop modify it this winter. I'll have them ' chamfer ' the entire right side.
Question is , should I buy a new ' Raw ' steel pan & have them modify that or use the existing pan & powdercoat it when they're done. I suppose I could / should / will ,
ask them...... But , just wonder'n on others advice/ knowledge / opinions ?
    Thanks,
    ....Richie

Blast the powder coating off and weld away.

Measurement Rear Drive Shaft.jpg Yep . Rear shaft is only 13" So offset like, with a Carrier , on the front shaft? I don't have room for that. I believe others have modified the pan . It will be the simplest way to fix this problem.

Thanks for that link, Rich . Discovered today that is the only way to do this if I have to. I cannot modify the pan on my 700R4 , 'cuz there is an accumulator mounted 1/4' inside the pan edge.
The front shaft runs about 1/2"away at the front & about 3/4' away at the rear. Some guys are say'n that this is plenty, So I must have hit this a lot harder than I thought ?
Gonna move on & see how it travels next summer .....besides a little bit of suggested pan persuasion with a ball peen hammer, of course. ;)

I would say, the best way is to take the pan off....from there you will see what you can do.
