I had to take my trans, x-fer case covers off to update my Dana 20 Xfer case shifter to remove the slack. I was wondering what you guys use if any as far as a sealant between tub and cover. When I did the full rebuild, I used butyl tape and it works good, but is a nightmare to clean off for replacing covers. I would not be replacing it except that it stuck real good on tub side and cover side so when I lifted it off it tears etc.

Cord caulk here too. When I took apart my 73 it was under hood hinges, between cowl and fenders, between fenders and grill, and all those tranny hump cover pieces.
