Yeah, know what you mean. I have been thinking it is time to do that with my Jeeps.

On the brighter side, I found an old school radiator shop ! Soon as I walked up with my radiator a crusty looking old guy with an unlit cigar stub in his mouth walked up and said "That is an old Jeep radiator", which made me feel I was at the right place.

I did the same thing. I bought a CJ7 Radiator off of Craigslist, the PO said he pulled his AMC 304 out and installed a LS1 and the radiator wouldn't work. The radiator was about a year old from Summit Racing, 3 row copper/brass. I stopped at the old radiator shop in Auburn Ca. to have the bottom angle 1& 1/2" outlet replaced with a straight 1& 3/4" for the Ford 5.0L The older woman at the counter ask me what year CJ the radiator came out of. $60.00 to boil it and replace the bottom outlet, test and paint it.

Started to tear down the D25. Found the diff a mix of gear oil and grease. Lots of grease. I'll finish tearing it down and hopefully cleaning it up tomorrow then it's a waiting game for parts.

Need to replace the inner seals, and the hub seals.

I can't imagine how that much grease got into the pumpkin unless someone had installed bearing buddies on the hubs and pumped them full of grease on a regular basis.

Still, that is a lot better than finding mud in the differential as I have found in several of mine. What I can see of the gear teeth looks pretty good.

Grease is an old trick to quiet a noisy and leaky differential. I've heard of car lots in the 50's and 60's putting grease and saw dust in especially noisy ones.

My father in law carries sawdust in a ziplock in his hunting rig. Swears it will patch pinholes in the cooling system.

Many years ago I was way out in the back country deer hunting in a Ford pickup when the water pump seal gave out. A can of black pepper from the cook box sealed it up good enough to finish the week and get me home. I had to have the radiator cleaned out when I replaced the pump, but ever since then I have carried a can of black pepper in my glove box.

Well, just got a call from the radiator shop.

The core is rotten, so will need to be replaced. That Jeep sat for 40 years, I flushed a lot of rust corrosion out of the water jacket, and where the core went into the bottom tank was always weeping and wet. So, I am not overly surprised at this news. He will be replacing it with a three row brass core instead of the two row core it has, so will be a better radiator.

While I wait on the radiator, I am going to pull the valve and rocker covers which are leaking, adjust the valves, paint the covers and button them back up. Another two hour job that will probably take all day for me.

Well, put a new tarp on the Jeep for winter. At some time it will go in the garage, but I need to do some modifications on the trailer first, such as, raise the canopy 12", new canvas top, motorize the solar panels, re-plumb the diesel heater exhaust, and add a pullout canopy. Generally make the trailer usable for overland travel without having to use the tent setup.

Here is the full tent setup, it's great for long term hot spring camping, but not practical for daily travel.

Completed clean up on the 2A's front axle. Waiting on parts now. While cleaning I found these nice F Script bolts on the front carrier. Oh I forgot I found the front diff full of grease. I've probably cleaned a a few pounds of grease out of this front axle so far. I just finished up tonight. There were no inner seals so I'm curious if the previous owners filled the diff with grease to quiet it down or if grease migrated into the diff over time. Even the tubes were so full the axle shafts were "tunneling" though them.

Just little things today, I bead blasted, and painted a few last minute parts.
Then installed the carb and made up a cable bracket. It's amazing how long the little stuff takes.
I also ran a wire loom from the grille terminal block out to where the LED Light bar will be mounted up front.

Hard finding time for the Jeep the past couple weeks. Also hard finding Rust-OLeum Hammered Black. My Lowe’s has been out for a few months so going with this dark grey for now.

When I bought my Jeep earlier this year, the top was not installed. I just put it on--it is the original Whitco. It is very snug inside, especially with the heater, which works well.

Add paint to the list of product shortages. I needed a few cases of dark ford gray tractor enamel for my 2A project. I bought Atwoods out of that and light grey primer. They still havent restocked 2 months later. I ordered straight from Van Sickle after two weeks of waiting on them to restock.

I'm currently waiting on delivery from Home Depot of a case of Massey Ferguson Red rustoelum tractor enamel for the wheels.

Another script F on the passenger side brake drum.

Pretty much got the Axle ready to put back together after I get a few more parts in.

I'll be finishing paint on the front axle tomorrow and pulling the rear axle. I got a way late start today.
