Had to wire up my turn signals and brake lights to make the 3b street legal again. Met up with Bostonbob during Crusin' the Coast. Managed to log 130 miles on the 3b the past couple days.

Then later took my granddaughter down by the spillway, where each weekend in Oct they release tons of water from the lake.

I have been told several times that there are some class 5 and class 6 rapids down below this point. Not uncommon to hear of accidents in this water. This water flows down the Russel Fork river through the Breaks Park ( Grand Canyon of the South). I've had a really good day!:flag:

No real progress made on the CJ2A. Looking for a sand blasting place to do the grille and windshield frame since it has a lot of nooks and crannies that I can't get into with my abrasive wheels. I installed the winch leads for my 2in receiver winch on the XJ and installed an aux fuse block in the CJ5 with an extra set of power outlets for the passenger. Ignore the wires I've got to finish cleaning them up after the install. The Painless kit had a lot of extra wiring that didn't get used in the engine bay for options this Jeep didn't have. I've also started buying my oil by the 5 gallon bucket.

I got home and burned in the new crossmember. Reuctantly I had to drink all the beer to get some cad going.

Nah not too bad. The XJ leaks about 3/4 quart every oil change (5k miles). It's not bad enough for me to want to replace the headgasket which is where it's currently leaking on the oil galley side of the head.

The CJ burns about a quart every oil change (3k miles), I have to go back in and replace some of the valve stem seals with positive seals I think at this point. It wasn't burning oil for a bit after I did them and then started a while after, some of the OEM style seals were very loose on the valve so I think they may have worked their way up the stem and aren't sealing anymore.

Once I get the CJ2A up and running a single round of Jeep oil changes is going to take me about 4 gallons. That's not counting the wife's van but I run a different weight and synthetic in that.

Got the 2A's tailgate painted and got the underbody of the tub wire wheeled off and ready for primer and paint. I need to weld up a few cracks in the tub but shouldn't be a big deal. There are some rust holes but nothing too serious. Looking at the underbody it looks like they replaced the front hat channels at some point in the past and the floorboards were also repaired in some area. The corner where the spare tires goes must have taken a whack at some point as it has a large patch welded in and lots of bondo.

I honestly don't plan on doing any bondo work on this. I kind of want the history to show though, scars and all.

Got the bottom of the tub, the grille and windshield frame primered. My L134 also got delivered and is currently on a small furniture dolly in the garage next to the frame.

Interior of the tub is primed. Weather isn't looking good today for putting down primer on the exterior of the tub so I think I'm going to use today to do a reorganization of the shop as everything is kind of exploded in there with this project.

I thought I was finally installed my OBA bracket and alternator. The hot stud to the battery is less than 1/2 an inch from the block, and probably less than that. I don't know that it can be used like this, and I don't want to. So its probably time for a different alternator. For now, the stock bracket back on just so I can get it running again.

It's an oil bath air cleaner setup. They all basically look like that, if you ever drive your jeep on dirt.

Some alternators can have the rear of them clocked to change the position of the wire connections. I think Delco-Remy. Not sure what type of alternator you have or if it is possible.

You may be able to "clock" the rear of the alt case around 90° for clearance.

I take it to work and pressure wash it after every other trip or so.
That's after I cleaned it. Last AZ trip had some rough trails and the block is absolutely drenched in oil and dirt, you can measure it with a ruler. Once it's running again it'll get washed.
