I would recommend starting a wanted to buy add in the classified section first.

I had one that I thought was a ridged seat also. After taking it apart more realized it was just rusted up.

In my years of junk jeep ownership, I assumed the break between the rigid tumble and fold-and-tumble was somewhere in ‘69. I had a 67 and 68 that were rigid, a January 69 (no hood reflectors) that was rigid, and a late 69 (hood reflectors, titled ‘70) that had the fold feature. Any chance it came in conjunction with the hood reflectors? Or just a coincidence that I picked up on?

To add to the debate, the 1/3-2/3 bench style could have both folding and rigid backrests on the "2/3" drivers side, as well as rigid and folding backrests on the smaller passenger seat. The more common variety have folding back rests on both sides. These were used from about '57 through '65, then they went to foam cushions.
