Laying out for the tire carrier, jack and a 2 gal rotopax fuel container ( rep by the flat rate box. I can keep the jack and fuel behind the spare. This is a repurposed carrier a friend had on his cj5 . It will see the cutoff wheel some more :twist:

Had a couple hours to clean parts, chase threads and clean bolts.
Aren’t the pushrods supposed to have holes in the center? These don’t ?

Your Buick gets oil from the rocker shaft for the rocker arms and valve stems. Chevys use hollow push rods that flow oil from the lifters to the rocker arms. your good (y)

The 231 V6s also have holes in the pushrods for rocker arm oiling and don't have pressurized rocker shafts like the 225 does.

Note: you need to get the rocker shafts installed in the correct orientation so they are properly oiled. There is a good post here in this thread: Dauntless Rocker Arm Oiling

Make sure you get them right.

So it's 1:50am here, had stuff to do after tucking the kids, dogs, and wife in bed... no pics I'm tired.
Made a support bow to keep the bikini top from hitting the top of my head all the ---- time.
Replaced the stoplight switch. (Pita with manifold and Ross steering on a 4.3)
Figured out the wacky guages. (Again anything under welded dash = pita)
Packed my recovery bag and toolbox.
Put the skid plate on.

Little time this evening for more parts cleaning. I find it all goes back together much easier when parts are clean.

I’m noticing this chunk of steel at the bottom of the block. It’s not a crack per say as it is a separate piece of steel that basically splits at the crank shaft. Tell me this isn’t a repair. This is the way engines are made?

#1 main cap. Casting a little rough on the passenger side but it doesn't matter. Carry on..

Incase you were wondering what really happens to corn head grease in there-

New knuckle- just a little cleanup from storage required before it's ready ready to go-

    sm_twoholeknuckle_20210418_143038.jpg

First attempt no shims just bolted the caps down & the darn thing pulled 13-15 lbs :D

    All back together :)

Umm, something doesn't look right

    DOH!

    sm_twoholeknuckle_20210418_162323.jpg

Will just pretend that didn't happen.

Got my 15x7s with 235/75R15s mounted up and sold the 31s on 15x8s to my brother. I much prefer the way the Jeep looks with the smaller tires on it.
