A coworker did mine's outers for me. I did the hog rings and foam.
Not really technical or hard but very time consuming and expect to have to start over a few times.
Tractor supply has hog ring pliers and upholstery rings.

If it doesn't need to be perfect give it a try.
Here are mine complete with some added cuteness for when you ask for help from the ladys

i know someone that recently acquired a lot of upholstery stuff, but i don't think that'd be a good thing to learn it on.

I spent about $300 per seat for the front low backs - but that also included the seat heaters which were a bit over $100 IIRC...so about over $250 per seat on the front. The rear seat is almost twice as big, so Ron's suggestion of $400 seems about right...

Just got a quote for around $800 to do covers for 3 simple rectangular pieces of foam that make up our campervan bed.

And she was 10 weeks out - so I guess it's a good business to be in.

The upholstery on the seat you've shown looks like an easier thing to upholster. The existing material has given you a template/pattern, you just dissect it apart meticulously with a seam ripper. We bought a new walking foot sewing machine and I love it. I do seat repair on my own stuff, but never have done an entire upholstery, but know I could. As for the price for having them upholstered~ seems fair. The upholstery is important, as important as any restoration on the jeep. I was mentioning to Levi about as a possible business~ upholstery would be an excellent business opportunity, minimal investment, develop a good product~ who knows! ;)

Sailrite.com has a lot of good tutorials, fabrics, tools of the trade;)
