Looking For Rear Corner Body Panels

    Looking for rear quarter panel/corner replacement body panel. Classic enterprises is one of our usual go to's for replacement body panels...but their small corner panels are just the lower half

    and to get the full corner, have to buy larger side panel...

    Call classic maybe he can make what you want. They are rolling that corner, they might be able to leave a more metal on it

    How much more steel do you need? If you need the top edge, that's more complicated, but the corner itself should be easy to bend.

    it's beyond that, you'd add several hundred pounds if you tried to fill it with bondo.

    I'm in the same boat as you and I was going to try and cut and bend some sheet metal and stitch it in if I have to go that far towards the tailgate...

    I would post a wtb here and try the scrapyards since it extends into the rest panels.

    Or use the corner armor and cut the mess out.

    I would pull it out before I bought anything. The steel has a memory and will mostly return if you apply force in the opposite direction to the impact.

    Working on that...there is a big hole where the old side mount spare was that is a big bondo patch with screen but no metal (I found it when drilling the fuel filler hole)...it probably pulled/ripped/rusted out before it was skimmed and repainted...not sure why it wasn't patched properly with steel patch but doesn't really matter now....I might try and move the filler neck to the rear and keep the sides clean and low profile....but not a lot of room on the rear with the back-up lights. Guess I am going to try and push the metal back as best as possible, try to make sure the fuel fill functions (although it can run on the underseat tank only if needed). Guess you never know, maybe it'll go back good enough (my standards for good enough are pretty low)....some people shouldn't have nice things...

    I just put a rear tank on my jeep with the fuel on the rear. The fuel fill went where the reverse light was. There was room to move the reverse light up.

    I know...but for whatever odd reasons I have, I just don't want to move the reverse light...and if i did move one, the other one would also have to move (too OCD for unbalanced lights - its why i can't drive an intermediate - the driver and passenger seats are not balanced in terms of distance from the side) so the filler has to go up high...

    ok, I beat on it for a lot of hours....not sure I am making much progress, or that its worth trying much more...Its splitting the seam with the tailight panel. The side mount spare tire 'baffle' support is still under the fender, so there really isn't good access to the upper portion....

    The filler neck and hose is all still usable (I think), so guessing I will put that back on and it will go like this until I can do more....I think its gotta get cut out and new corner welded in.

    That corner is pretty crumpled and torn.

    Yes it could be pulled and beat back into shape but would also need some welding to fix the tears. It would take a body man with some skill to get all that back right.

    I would find a suitable junkyard donor and replace that whole corner, as well as the tail light panel. I think that would be a lot less work than trying to straighten that mess out.

    A reciprocating saw can run off a portable generator and that is what I use to cut pieces off at the junkyard.

    You need a 6" round chunk of pipe and a porta power. Jack the corner back into place with the pipe as a form and relieve the stress in the metal with a hammer.

    Similar to how I repaired my fender after the first rubicon adventure.
    While the fender is not as bad as your quarter, that's a totally salvageable piece of sheet metal. It just takes patience. Totally understand if the hammering actually made you madder.... :ninja:
